Lions are animals that are very protective of their territory. However, for young male lions, they tend to wander to find and shape their own territory. This is what causes lions to encounter countless dangers.

Hippos are considered amphibians because they spend up to 16 hours a day in water. Hippos are very large animals and are the third largest land mammal today, after elephants and white rhinos.

They can reach 3.3 – 5 m in length and up to 1.6 m high at the shoulder. The average female weighs about 1,400 kg, while the male weighs between 1,600 – 4,500 kg.

In complete contrast to the shy, gentle personality of common herbivores, hippos are one of the most dangerous species in Africa with the number one aggression in the world.

This creature’s weapon lies in its “earth-shaking” strength, along with its large teeth and tusks used to fight off threats, including humans.

On average, about 2,900 people die each year due to hippopotamuses, a much larger number than cases caused by famous “bloodthirsty” predators like sharks.

The reason is because hippos are extremely hot-tempered and easily lose control. Whenever the hippo feels an intrusion, it will frantically fight back and can even destroy the stray.

Throughout human history, lions have been considered a symbol of strength. We often say “strong as a lion”. Westerners call conscientious people people with “lion hearts”.

Many royal courts around the world have painted lions on their national emblems and flags to demonstrate their power.

The lion is honored as the king of the jungle perhaps not because no animal can defeat the lion, but because of the terror that the lion has caused to humans and animals. The ancient Egyptians believed that the lion was a mascot.

With their extremely stubborn personality, even if animals that are respected by all species like lions accidentally step into the wrong territory, hippos are still ready to punish them.

As the co-owner and tour guide of the South Post area of Kruger National Park, Mr. Steyn Jacobson was still extremely surprised by what he witnessed.

That peaceful morning, Steyn led his lovely guests down to the riverside area to enjoy coffee and fully admire the most unique and beautiful features here.

While sipping a glass of water, the tour guide suddenly noticed a group of hippos bathing in the river showing strange behavior. There was something strange about a riverside rock that made the hippos feel uncomfortable.

Looking through binoculars, everyone was surprised by the image of a male lion lying on that rock.

Obviously, the lion is not an animal that likes rivers and there is no reason for its appearance on such a precarious rock on the riverbank.

The scene became especially tense when a large hippo attacked the lion, forcing it to jump underwater. At this time, another hippo continued to attack the lion. But fortunately, the hippo proved to be quite clumsy and missed.
