Losing a dog is always heartbreaking. It is important to keep hope alive. Sometimes pets are found months or years later, and this was the case for a family who recently reunited with their dog after three long years.
Back in 2020, Rex and Brittney Smith were devastated when two pit bulls named Jack and Jill escaped from their home in Little Rock, Arkansas. The sudden disappearance left them in shock. Feeling completely lost, which causes devastation.
As time passed without any trace of the dogs, the family began to fear that they would never see them again. Brittney Smith expressed her doubts, saying, “I didn’t think our dogs would ever come back because they are dogs. I knew no one would simply surrender them or take them to a vet.”
Eventually, the family decided to move 300 miles away to McKinney, Texas, in 2021. Years passed and they had almost given up hope of ever receiving news of their missing pets.
But everything changed recently when they received a phone call from the Little Rock Animal Village informing them that Jill had been found!
Fortunately, Jill had a microchip containing their information so that the owners could identify them even though they were three years and 300 miles apart. “If she had not been microchipped, this reunion would not have been possible,” Animal Village friends shared on Facebook.
The family was very happy when they received the news and immediately rushed to Little Rock to be reunited with their bull.
“We were so thrilled that we left work early — and didn’t even bother packing anything. We just hopped into our cars and sprinted to Little Rock,” Britney shared with KLRT.
When they arrived and the shelter opened the Giles kennel, she immediately recognized them which led to their heartwarming reunion. “It’s like she never left us,” Britney told USA Today. “We picked up where we left off three years ago. She came into our arms.”
It is still unknown where Jill has been all these years and there is still no trace of her brother Jack. However, Jill’s return has given the family hope that they may one day be able to reunite with their two dogs.
Finally, the Smiths bring Jill home where they will undoubtedly make up time.
It’s really great to see that Jill is finally home, after all this time. It is truly a miracle! If you are a dog lover, please share this news!
