The female owner did not want to raise Maru anymore, so she sent him back to the farm by train. However, this dog jumped off the train and tried to cross the forest path back to his owner.

Oddity Central reported that Maru is a Bullmastiff breed, born at a dog farm in Novosibirsk, Siberia. At 5 months old, Maru was bought by a family living in the city of Krasnoyarsk, 800km away.

However, 6 months later, Ms. Alla Morozova, the farm owner, received a call from the buyer of Maru, informing them that they were allergic to animals and could not continue to care for the animal. The contract stipulates that in case the buyer no longer wants the dogs, they must notify Morozova in advance so she can arrange to bring them back to the farm.

The two sides agreed to send Maru to Novosibirsk city by train. However, Maru’s journey across Siberia was soon interrupted when the train only ran about 200km, passing through a taiga forest.

“Maru was raised by his owners for 6 months but then they suddenly disappeared. The dog was extremely panicked. The noise of the train scared it, when it got to Achinsk station, it used its foot to open the train compartment door and rushed like a bullet in the dark night towards the taiga,” Ms. Alla Morozova told Siberian Times.

The railway staff shouted for Maru but it was no use. They had to call the owner of the dog farm. After hearing the news, Ms. Alla immediately contacted Maru’s former owner to report that the dog was very lonely and scared so she wanted them to help find the animal, but they flatly refused.

“That made me extremely angry. Its previous owner was not worried at all. This is also true. They sent the dog back to the farm so it completely left their lives,” Ms. Morozova said.
Alla posted a search for help on social media sites.

And a miracle happened. After more than two days, she received news that Maru had been found exhausted in an industrial park near his former owner’s home in Krasnoyark. The animal’s leg was broken, the pads on the soles of its feet were torn and bloody, and its muzzle was injured. It’s still lucky that Maru wasn’t eaten by a bear or wolf.

They guessed that the dog was most likely trying to find its former owner’s house. It ran for more than two days. A friend of Alla’s nearby took Maru to the dog farm in Novosibirsk to reunite him with his father and mother.
