Dogs are superior to humans in some ways. They really are the comrades we don’t deserve. We are lucky to have them. Let me share a story that captures their greatness.
Meet James Isaac, a 9-year-old boy with autism who has trouble communicating with people. But there are those who stand by him relentlessly. What is it.
Mahi is James’ loyal service dog, constantly providing support and never leaving his side. Recently, when James needed to undergo an MRI scan to determine the cause of his seizures, the doctors allowed Mahi to accompany him after witnessing their bond.
Inside the machine, Mahi stood close to his friend, gently caressing James’ face. James’s mother, Michelle Isaacs, shared that the flight attendant looked worried as he stared at her son.
But Mahes’ help is not limited to hospital visits; It has been useful in other situations as well. Over the course of two and a half years of being best friends, Mahi – trained by Assistance Dogs New Zealand Trust – has consistently kept James calm during various activities.
Wendy Isaacs of the Trust confirms the ability of dogs to calm children with autism. “There is something magical going on between these kids and the dogs.”
The touching bond between James and Mahi is yet another testament to how dogs affect our lives.
Mahi, don’t stop now! You are already making history.
