Christina Aguilera is opening up about her life as a mother to her two children in the new edition of People that dropped on Friday.

In a new interview, the Beautiful singer-songwriter shared about helping style her eight-year-old daughter’s long locks, all while downplaying her hairdressing skills, and how Summer was the one who pushed her to ‘learn how to do some hair.’
‘She likes to put these little pigtail braids in. So every morning I’m up with her before school, trying to use a spiky comb to split her hair in the back,’ the New York City native explained.

It’s at this point that the five-time Grammy Award winner poked fun at her hair-styling abilities, before giving a nod of respect to mothers all over the world.
‘I am no hairdresser, let me tell you, but God bless being a mom, and we’ll do anything to make our kids feel good,’ she shared.

Aguilera, 42, went on to add that as a parent, ‘You want to instill the message that they hold the real beauty.’
The Ain’t No Other Man crooner shares Summer with fiancé Matt Rutler, whom she met in 2009 while he was working as a production assistant on the set of her backstage musical film Burlesque with Cher.
They didn’t start dating until the following year after she filed for divorce from then husband Jordan Bratman, whom she met in 2002 and married three years later.
Aguilera and Bratman’s union also resulted in them welcoming their son Max, now 15, to the world.
It would be another six years until the proud mom gave birth to Summer.
In an era of social media, Aguilera confessed she has found the need to very open and communicative with her daughter about the pros and cons of the wide-reaching platforms.
‘I think it’s great to be open so that we take the stigma out of shame around beauty and making each other feel like something isn’t right,’ she said of her conversations with Summer in the People interview.
She explained, ‘I’ve always been a preacher of feeling good about yourself, doing what’s right for you. What I do might not be for everybody, and vice versa.’
Aguilera also made a point of highlighting the positives that can come out of the use of the social media platforms like Instagram.
‘There are many things that we worry about, especially as moms with social media, but I think that one of the positives is that we can really support each other, share information, and gain a lot of insight from it,’ she said.
