The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards were established in 2010, and have since grown from three awards to 20, with categories now recognising football’s Best Youth Team, Transfer Deal, and Emerging Player.

Last year’s awards saw 33 million fans vote for winners, with Karim Benzema and Alexia Putellas picking up the coveted Best Men’s and Best Women’s player awards respectively.

Ronaldo, who plays in Saudi Arabia, lead the first round of voting for the Best Men’s Player award, which closed last week, in all three categories he was nominated in, including Fans’ Favourite player alongside Messi, Bellingham, Neymar and Mohamed Salah.

In the category of best Middle East player, he faces competition from Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, Salem AL-Dawsari of Al Hilal and Mohamed El Shenawy of Al Ahly.
