It is well known that she’s estranged from her father Fausto, who she claims physically and emotionally abused both her and her mother when she was a young girl.

And while she hasn’t seen her dad for some time, Christina Aguilera has also reportedly not been in contact with her grandparents.

Now her family members are reaching out to the singer, urging her to get in contact with them as they are said to be gravely ill.

In an interview with Star magazine, Christina’s uncle Johann Aguilera said they desperately want Christina and her son Max to see the family.

‘Christina’s grandfather is 86 and her grandmother is 82. They have health issues,’ Johann told the publication.

‘I don’t know how much longer they’re going to last. Time is running out.’

Johann says Christina’s grandparents would be overjoyed to be back in contact with their granddaughter and great grandson.

‘I know how much joy it would give my parents if she came back into our lives again,’ he said.

‘It would mean the world to them if they could see Christina before they die.’

Earlier this year Christina had suggested she and her father Fausto might be able to rebuild their relationship.

In an interview with Latina magazine she said: ‘I’ve talked about how rough things were for me and I’m sure he’s heard it.  He can’t be thrilled about it.  So maybe one day we can do lunch … I’m 31 years old now.  Maybe it’s time.’

In 2009 in an interview with E! Christina said she witnessed a lot of ‘unpleasant things’ while growing up.

She said: ‘Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. ‘I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.’

Christina’s father has denied allegations he abused Christina and her sister Rachel.

In 2002 the Army Sergeant said: ‘My relationship with her mother was tense and I wasn’t perfect. But I love Christina and her sister Rachel.

‘I never abused them in any way and they know that.

‘Shelly and I disagreed on a lot of things and we both had hot tempers.

‘I’m sorry to have ever raised a hand to my wife, but it was never brutal like Ike and Tina Turner.

Christina now has children of her own after having a son Max, now four, with her former husband Jordan Bratman in January 2008.

She is now dating her current boyfriend Matthew Rutler after splitting with Bratman in 2010

Christina and Matthew met on the set of her film Burlesque.

Meanwhile, rumours continue to circulate that Christina ended the recent season of The Voice in hot water.

She is reportedly in trouble with her bosses and getting fined for being ‘consistently about two hours late’ to the set.

Bosses of the NBC series are now allegedly looking to increase the undisclosed amount the singer – who is a coach on the US talent show – is required to pay for her poor punctuality.

They hope that the financial hit ‘bothers her’ and inspires her to turn up on set at the correct time during the third season.
