‘Miley Ray Hemsworth now actually,’ he said after Kelly called her Miley Ray Cyrus.
‘She’ll still be obviously known as Miley Cyrus but she took my name which is great. That was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn’t ask her to take my name but she was like, “no, of course I’m taking your name”.’
Liam then jokingly teared up and said: ‘That’s awesome. Thank you.’
Adding that it was strange initially calling Miley his ‘wife’, he added that the Nothing Breaks Like A Heart singer is now saved as ‘wife’ in his phone.
‘The first couple of weeks were really fun to be husband and wife,’ he gushed.
Liam also opened up about their choice to keep the wedding small and private, saying they found the whole thing ‘kind of embarrassing’.
Miley and Liam wed on December 23, 2018, at their $8.2 million Tennessee mansion.
It appears as though the nuptials was a surprise ceremony for the family, with Miley’s mom Tish dressed in jeans and her younger sister Noah arriving in a hoodie and a beanie.
The former Disney star opted for a $8600 Vivienne Westwood ivory wedding dress while her Australian hunk was dapper in a suit and tie.
It was reported that the pair had obtained their marriage licence on December 18 from Williamstown, Tennessee – five days before the ceremony.
Miley and Liam met ten years prior to their marriage while playing love interests on the set of The Last Song.
She captioned the Instagram post: ‘12.23.18’, and alongside another photo, she wrote: ’10 years later …..’ in reference to when they first met.
A third post featured the couple sharing a kiss and the Party In The USA hitmaker wrote: ‘This is probably our one – millionth kiss.(sic)’
The actor shared the same kissing photo, which he captioned: ‘My love [heart emoji].’
