For Dr. Dre, it’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang”! The renowned rapper, songwriter, and producer has officially sold one of his residences in the Los Angeles area, only days after agreeing to sell Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings a number of music income streams and certain owned music assets in combined deals for over $200 million.
Records show Dre sold a lavish mansion in the Calabasas neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley to an as-yet-unnamed buyer for exactly $6 million, or $1 million more than he paid for the place back in spring 2018. Dre recently threatened legal action against congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for using his iconic 1999 hit “Still D.R.E.” without permission.
The estate was erected in the late 1990s and is located in the guard-gated Mountain View Estates neighborhood. According to the ad, it has subsequently undergone major renovations costing close to a million dollars that have turned it into a showplace. The almost 9,400 square feet of two-level living space in the cream-colored stucco and terracotta-roofed building has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in addition to wide-plank oak flooring, soaring ceilings, designer light fixtures, and high-end granite, marble, and tile finishes.
The home is fronted by a gated road that circles to a motorcourt and an attached garage with space for at least eight automobiles. It is situated on a block of land measuring more than three-quarters of an acre, in the middle of a quiet cul-de-sac.
A portico-topped entryway leads to a double-height foyer with a spiral wrought-iron staircase that leads to a roomy formal dining room, as well as a nearby sunken living room that is highlighted by a Ԁramatic fireplace and French doors that open to the outside.
The expansive gourmet kitchen on the main floor also features an eat-in island, top-notch stainless appliances, a breakfast nook, and a built-in workstation. A spacious family room with a walk-in wet bar and seating is right around the corner.
Other rooms include a movie theater, wood-paneled office, beauty salon, and a lavish upstairs master suite with a fireside seating area, wraparound balcony, dual walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom.
The swanky amenities continue outside, where the grassy grounds are dotted with palm trees. Here, you’ll find a fire-pit lounge, a pool and spa surrounded by a flagstone sundeck, a patio kitchen, a solitary pizza oven, a sport court, and a charming stone fountain, all of which have views of the picturesque hillside.
