When Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade married secretly at a Florida moated castle? That much-discussed chAteau just sold for $19.7M.

Charles Sieger, a famous Miami architect, designed the luxurious home above a sparkling freshwater lake, where he and his wife have lived in for over a decade. Château Artisan includes eight bedrooms, seven full baths, five powder rooms, and 20,000 square feet.

Sieger built the luxurious home for himself, but the engineering took six years. The architect had to dig out the foundation of the enormous home from coral rock to place it in a landlocked moat, inspired by the river Cher under Château de Chenonceau in France.

Château Artisan, on 14 acres, offers the privacy of a private paradise with European charm and medieval security. Like any fortress, this mansion has one entrance and exit through strong metal gates down a single road.

The tree-lined driveway starts or ends with a drawbridge across the lake. East and west are two diamond-shaped courtyards with a black granite pool. Stepping stones lead to two gazebos for dining or sleeping under the stars to the north and south.

Ornate interiors begin with a double-stair foyer. Château Artisan has a formal dining room, a modern chef’s kitchen, and a luxurious music room on three floors. The main bedroom has 23-foot ceilings and an en suite bathroom with a dressing room island, “midnight” kitchen, and walk-in Roman tub on the north wing.

A superyacht-themed third level with linen paneling, mahogany accents, and pleather coverings was a nice variation. Two children’s play lofts and guest bedrooms are here. Other wine lovers will enjoy the 3,000-bottle room. A home theater is available for movie night.

Fountains, statues, topiaries, two canals, and a lagoon decorate the grounds as well as the mansion. An winding maze leads to a meditation garden with coral rock ruins and a waterfall. You can also witness wildlife in the Japanese koi pond. «This definitely is the pearl of Miami», says eXp Realty listing agent Carlos Justo.
