“I’m praying I didn’t just ruin this dress because I haven’t worn it yet”

A BRIDE-TO-BE has shared the panic that ensued after she tried to remove a hideous mesh panel from her special dress.

She decided to overhaul the appearance of the formal gown herself ahead of her wedding rehearsal dinner.

Stephanie (@stephanieleighnyc) has garnered over 66,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares outfit inspiration for every occasion.

The New York-based stylist took to the social media platform wearing a floor-length black evening dress with silver embellishment.

She admitted that she wasn’t satisfied with how the gown looked before deciding to take matters into her own hands.

“I have a rehearsal dinner coming up and I really want to wear this dress but I’m not loving the mesh right here,” she said while pointing scissors at the mesh covering her cleavage.

“I think I’m just gonna cut it off and hope for the best. I hope that it still stays up without it.”

Stephanie returned to the video wearing the dress with the mesh panel removed.

The shape of the dress was visibly looser fitting as she tried to pull up the zip at the back.

“I’m praying I didn’t just ruin this dress because I haven’t worn it yet,” she said.

“Oh, uh oh. Whoopsies, I feel like it does need something to hold it together. S**t.

“I’m going to bring it to my tailor and see if he can sew it up a little bit in the middle.

“He’s going to need me to try it on anyway so I’m keeping it on and just wear a to-the-floor trench coat so no one can see I have this ballgown on.”

Stephanie confessed that she regretted cutting the mesh out of the dress but added that she knows she wouldn’t have worn it the way it was.

She explained the alterations that her tailor would be making in an attempt to fix the neckline of the dress before leaving the store.

“The way that I did not think that through because now I’m walking home in literally just a coat,” she said.

“My tailor sounds very confident that he can fix it but he looked at me like ‘why didn’t you just bring it to me?’

“We’ve been over this so many times so hopefully it comes out okay.”

She captioned the post: “A chaotic 20 minutes in my life but let’s stay optimistic.”

The video went viral with over 624,000 views and thousands of likes from people who supported her decision to get rid of the mesh.

Many people offered advice including wearing the dress with fashion tape or adding ribbon to tie the front like a corset.

Others were in hysterics because of the situation and took to the comment section requesting an update.

“Wait I’m crying that you had to walk home in just the trench lmao,” one person wrote.

“Not you just full-on flasher status walking the streets bare naked under a trench coat [laughing],” another commented.

“My first reaction was awhh it’s okay we’re a little impulsive. Then seeing your dress on the counter realizing your chicas would be naked girl! [laughing],” a third said.

“As you were walking out I was thinking I hope you brought a change of clothes [laughing] I would prob do this too,” a fourth added.

“Just one bad decision after the other,” Stephanie replied.

In a follow-up video, she revealed that it cost her just $20 to get the front of the dress stitched up.

“It looks so much better without the mesh and stitched up so I’m not flashing the world,” she said.

“I am so happy because I was in a full-blown panic. That bad mistake led to a dress that looks so much better.”
