An attorney for Sofia Vergara has hit back after a former contractor for the star claimed she failed to pay a massive bill for work done on her LA mansion.

In a statement obtained by DailyMail.com, Marty Singer, Vergara’s lawyer, said: ‘My client made claims against the contractor, Reside, several months before this specious lawsuit was filed.

‘Sofia Vergara’s claims were for significant overcharging by Reside, substandard and negligent work, and long delays seeking damages in excess of $5 million.

‘We are confident that my client will prevail in this dispute.’

Sofia is being sued by Reside Custom Homes, who allege she failed to pay a massive bill for construction done on her home. They claim she owes them over $1,700,492.64.

Speaking with TMZ, Marty claimed his client was actually the first one to send a demand letter. He says the letter was submitted on October 4.

Marty added that the claims were never disputed by Reside, who are now suing Sofia.

In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the company claimed the actress owed them $1,700,492.64 after she hired them for a job back in April 2022.

The company alleges they were hired to do construction work on Vergara’s lavish home in the Beverly Park neighborhood, but were never compensated despite her agreeing to pay for the project and additional contractor’s fee.

According to the lawsuit, the work was largely complete by December 2022, however Vergara then requested for more substantial improvements outside of their initial agreement, pushing the project into March 2023. Sofia moved back into the mansion in March.

The Modern Family actress, 51, had requested clay plaster installed into three of her powder rooms, an office, the dining room walls, the cabana bathroom, and guest house living room.

She also had wanted a flight of stairs removed and replaced.

The contractor claims they initially fronted the cost of the additional work, and were promised by Vergara that she would follow through on paying for the improvements.

In addition, RCH claims they were informed by the actress that she had approved an invoice for nearly $900K and had ‘already’ instructed her money manager to pay them.

However, RCH alleges she never actually paid the bill and now owes them over a million dollars.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Sofia for comment.

Sofia had purchased the lavish home in 2020 with her then-husband, True Blood star Joe Manganiello.

The Tuscan-style abode, which was built in 1999, has an impressive six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 17,000 square feet of space and two acres of land.

The couple announced in July that they had separated and were divorcing after seven years of marriage.

Only two days after announcing their split, the actor filed for divorce and noted their date of separation as July 2, while citing the reason for the end of their marriage as ‘irreconcilable differences’.

The former couple did not have children together, but Sofia has a 32-year-old son from her previous marriage.

The Modern Family star has been a judge on America’s Got Talent since 2020.

Sofia had a short trip to celebrate Thanksgiving as she spent the holiday with her neighbor Anastasia Soare, 65.

She shared photos on Instagram of herself enjoying the holiday with Anastasia.
