Taylor Swift kicked off the Sao Paulo leg of her Eras Tour concerts in Brazil with a big show of love to her fans on Friday.

The 33-year-old pop star – who is planning to spend Christmas with her boyfriend Travis Kelce – greeted the audience by making a heart sign with her hands, which comes a week after the tragic death of a fan at Taylor’s Rio de Janeiro concert.

The superstar dazzled in a shimmering rhinestone embellished bodysuit and matching knee-high boots, and playfully flexed her muscles for the crowd.

She performed ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’ from 1989 as the first surprise song for Day 1 of her Sao Paulo shows.

The second surprise ditty came in the form of ‘Innocent’ from Speak Now.

The Brazilian producer behind the show, Time For Fun’s CEO Serafim Abreu, released a video statement regarding the death via Instagram on Thursday in Portuguese.

‘We recognize we could have taken some alternative actions in addition to all the others we have done,’ Abreu said.

‘Unfortunately for the first time in more than 40 years of operation, we had a fatality. We are absolutely devastated, very sad, with the loss of young Ana Clara, despite the prompt care and all the efforts made by the medical teams at the event and at the hospital.’

Swift was completely unaware of the tragedy as she performed and has since issued a statement expressing her devastation over Benevides’ death as well as her condolences to the young girl’s family.

‘I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with her shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by by this,’ Swift wrote in her Instagram statement after the show.

‘There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far two young,’ she continued.

‘I’m not going to be able to speak about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.

I want to say now I feel this loss deeply, and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.

This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring the show to Brazil.’

Benevides is believed to have had a cardiac arrest according to her cousin, Estela Benevides, and as reported by Brazilian media.

Doctors at the scene attempted to revive the young fan but were unable to do so.

She was taken Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital but died soon afterwards.

Taylor has three shows left at the Allianz Parque in Brazil, and will resume her tour in February 2024, following a winter break.
