It’s been a while since the GOATs of the big league are giving back to the future generation. A recent example is the relationship between NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and the LSU star Angel Reese. Their relationship is best described as that of a mentor and a mentee. Akin to this basketball bond, another relationship is now taking a form between an icon and a rookie.

MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Curry connection
In a resurfaced video from last year, MiLaysia Fulwiley talks about Stephen Curry as her mentor and speaks with him for the first time. She says, “Oh yeah, that was, that was good. Steph Curry, it’s always good to have a mentor like Steph Curry. Who wouldn’t want to be in touch with someone like Steph Curry? A legend like Steph Curry, he’s like the GOAT, so it’s like, that’s crazy, that I even had the opportunity to even speak with him. Facts so, like, yeah, I’m just blessed for real to just have people like that in my corner. Yeah, that’s rocking with me forever.”

Further, crediting Curry for her 3-pointers, she adds, “Steph Curry probably is the one who inspired me to shoot those deep threes, but I know that behind the back move, LeBron definitely inspired me to do that move. Yeah, I remember it was the NBA finals, I forgot what year it was, but he did it and I was like, ‘oh my god that was easy!’ Like, I feel like I could do that, like I just kept practicing and it just got so smooth and so easy. Yeah, and that go back to when I was talking about the reps like if you just keep doing stuff like it’s got so smooth so easily now that’s like kind of one of my go-to moves you do that during like every game.”

MiLaysia at the ‘Curry Camp’

The rising South Carolina star has been trained by the Warriors’ guard and has also played for the Curry Team. Evidently, the camp conducts a training session where Stephen and a team of coaches and trainers provide face-to-face training to selected boys and girls from across the nation.

Fulwiley’s moves grabbed a lot of elite attention last month in South Carolina’s matchup against Notre Dame. Curry called MiLaysia’s coast-to-coast move “the best move in all of basketball.” He also reposted a short video of her lay-up on his social media with the caption, “I SEE YOU @LAYWITDABUTTER.”
