Angel Reese is known for her distinctive style, which includes her No. 10 jersey and left leg sleeve. She has worn them consistently throughout her time at LSU. However, when she first arrived in Louisiana after transferring from Maryland, she did not wear the No. 10 jersey.
The Significance of Jersey No. 10
It was only after leading the LSU Tigers to a national championship victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes last year that Angel Reese became associated with No 10. She sported the No. 1 jersey at the start of her time at LSU because senior Ryann Payne, who had also transferred from Maryland, already took the No. 10.

But the jersey number’s significance is actually rooted in her family belief. Angel’s mother, Angel Reese Webb, wore the No. 10 jersey when she played for the UMBC Retrievers. And now, Angel’s younger brother, Julian, who currently plays for the Maryland Terrapins, also sports the No. 10 jersey.
Angel Reese’s high school jersey
Angel Reese was born and raised in Baltimore where she attended St. Frances Academy before making the decision to play for the Maryland Terrapins. On January 31, Reese’s number 10 was retired by St. Frances, making her the first female player to receive this honor.
During her senior year, she led her team to an impressive 25-3 record and secured her fourth consecutive IAAM A Conference title. With an average of 18.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game, Reese proved her exceptional skills on the court.
Despite being selected to play in two major high school all-star games, the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald’s All-American Game, both events were unfortunately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, Reese’s outstanding performance led her to be named High School Female Athlete of the Year and also earned her the All-Metro Player of the Year title for the second time. Bayou Barbie essayed her basketball glory by mostly sporting the jersey number 10. No wonder, she feels strongly about it.
