Unable to hold back tears, looking at the dog confined for 10 years, emaciated to the bone, in need of a blood transfusion to survive.

Meet LuLu, a small Greyhound who was once nothing but skin and bones. LuLu’s owner had tied her up at their doorstep for ten years, using her as a guardian of the house and courtyard. Her thin look revealed a heartbreaking story of neglect.

The surrounding environment bore witness to the owner’s callous and harsh treatment of LuLu. Her situation was grave, with numerous scars, severe skin illnesses, and a frail frame that fought to sustain her. She couldn’t even stand on all fours, her skinny and frail appearance instilling fear.

Despite her sufferings, LuLu’s extraordinary perseverance kept her alive. This tenacious vigour attracted the notice of a kind volunteer. Following consultation with the owner, the decision was made to free LuLu from her decade-long imprisonment.

LuLu was unexpectedly quiet on the way to the hospital. She curled up on the seat without making a sound or fuss, possibly due to physical weakness or the realisation that a kind-hearted lady was on her way to save her. Her demeanour was impressively controlled.

LuLu was examined thoroughly upon arrival at the hospital. Her deteriorating health was attributed to severe starvation, dehydration, and anaemia, according to the doctor. She appeared to have ceased eating and drinking entirely. LuLu was placed in a cage and given a nutrient solution to help her recuperate.

Despite efforts to feed her, LuLu refused food for an extended period of time, prompting fears about probable liver and kidney failure. To save her life, the doctor ordered a blood transfusion, and volunteers worked frantically to find appropriate blood donors.

In an unexpected turn of events, a stray dog rescued just a few days before was brought in for a blood transfusion to save LuLu. The greyhound’s eyes, which had before been filled with fear and anxiety, now carried a gleam of optimism. She had a fighting chance thanks to the blood transfusion.

LuLu’s condition improved after losing blood throughout the night, and she even took her first steps. She was given the adorable name “LuLu” and instantly captured the hearts of everyone who knew her.

LuLu’s road to recovery was accelerated when she was adopted by a golden retriever. Her energy levels skyrocketed, and she even gained a few pounds. She made new acquaintances and revelled in her newfound joy.

The golden retriever escorting LuLu like a protective big brother was a beautiful sight, and the bond they had was a monument to the power of love and compassion.

We are grateful to the volunteers who saved these stray dogs and provided them with the attention and protection they deserved. LuLu and thousands like her now enjoy warm and joyful homes full with love and hope for a better future as a result of their efforts.
