Ed Sheeran has made another surprising career move which is a little different to his pop career.

The singer-songwriter, 32, took to his Instagram to announce that he was launching his first watch with Hodinkee and G-Shock.

He filmed a video for his followers showing off the yellow watch and revealing it is called the Subtract G-Shock.

Ed said: ‘So if anyone has seen me wearing this watch over the past six months, this is actually the first watch that I’m bringing out myself.’

He added: ‘I hope you like it, I love you all and see you soon.’

‘I got a call from @johnmayer around a year ago asking me if I wanted to make a G Shock with them and I couldn’t have said yes fast enough.

‘I’ve loved watches since I can remember but never thought about making my own one, but this is the perfect way to start. Head to Hodinkee shop for more info on them, and hope you enjoy wearing it as much as I do x’.

It’s the latest business venture from the Perfect hitmaker, with him releasing his own range of hot sauce called Tingly Ted’s earlier this year.

The brand, named after Ed’s childhood nickname, comes in two varieties – Tingly and Xtra Tingly – and is described as the perfect condiment for fries, nuggets, falafels, fried chicken or ‘any meal at all’.

He has a Heinz Tomato Ketchup tattoo on his arm and has previously appeared in an ad in which he douses his meal at a high-end restaurant with the sauce.

Ed said: ‘I love sauces, that’s no secret. But the older I’ve got, the more I love and need spice with every single meal.

‘I travel a lot, so having a bottle in my suitcase wherever I go that can spice up any and every meal seemed like a good idea.

‘I knew I didn’t want to do a watery hot sauce, as they usually all get relegated to the same shelf of other random hot sauces. I wanted to make a sauce that took the same pride of place as ketchup.’

He added: ‘I had a year of whittling down the perfect flavours with a great mixing team, and we settled on two absolute belters, the Tingly and the Xtra Tingly.

‘I’ve had them on tour with me recently to try them with all sorts of meals, and there really isn’t anything they don’t go with (except bananas, don’t do that).

‘I’m so excited to bring this product out, it’s genuinely something I use every day on all three meals.’

He then used the new brand to link up with British restaurant chain Honest Burgers for a lucrative deal.

The Ted’s Halloumi burger at the chain contained Ed’s Xtra Tingly Sauce along with beef, halloumi, cheese, crispy onions, avocado ranch mayo, lettuce and pickles.

The burger, which retailed for £14.50, was only available from August 1 until September 4 at its 42 UK restaurants or via takeaway order.

Ed also recently worked on projects with brands like Peloton and American Express, further expanding on his multimillion fortune.

He teamed up with American Express to offer a ‘Subtract Pop-Up Experience’ in five cities across the US in May.

American Express cardholders could also buy an exclusive hooded sweatshirt co-branded with ‘The Subtract Pop-Up Experience’, with the company saying 9,000 fans attended the events across the five cities.

Ed also worked with Peloton, saying the deal had been ‘really cool’ and he hoped listeners ‘enjoy experiencing Subtract in a unique way’.

The partnership began in 2019 but in May it underwent a major US expansion at the time of the 25-date North American leg of Ed’s ‘Mathematics’ world tour.

Previously shoppers in America were buying the guitars through distributors and merchants – but now they can also do so directly from Amazon on its US store.
