Liverpool are close completing their Anfield Road Stand Expansion and have appointed construction company Rayner Rowen to complete the project undertaken by Buckingham Group before they went into administration.
An eagle eyed fan that runs the Youtube channel KC Imageworks has spotted an odd detail in images of the newly renovated stand.
In a recent video he uploaded, the fan zooms in on one part of the expanded stand, where a singular blue coloured seat can be seen.
Fans were left befuddled with the details and came to some theories to explain why it could have been placed there.
Derek: “As a parting shot someone from Buckingham Group ordered 7,000 blue seats 😂😂”
Ryan: “I think it’s a protective film that will need stripping when finished! Cheers, matey. 👍”
Keith: “Workman who’s a blue put it there for shits n giggles.”
Rob: “A sneaky add by a blue nose, who worked there previously 🤷♂️”
Although there were a number of theories like the ones above but the most widely believed one was that it was in memory of Michael Jones.
Pixel: “If that is for Michael Jones, that’s a lovely tribute.”
Stum: “I’m hoping it’s for the Everton lad.”
Michael Jones was a construction worker that was fatally injured on 14th August, 2023 while working on the site of Everton’s new stadium.
The 26-year-old was rushed to Aintree hospital but sadly died shortly afterwards. He was a lifelong Everton fan.
Liverpool paid tribute to Jones ahead of their home game against Bournemouth and the fans at Anfield were seen clapping and singing ‘You’ll never walk alone’ at the 26th minute during the game.
The Liverpool squad also visited Bramley-Moore Dock, the site of the new Everton stadium to pay their respects and Jurgen Klopp lay a wreath to honour Jones.
