Taylor Swift’s concert film has shattered the presale ticket record formerly held by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, is slated to premiere in AMC theatres across the U.S. on 13 October – with a UK release date remaining undetermined.
AMC Theatres disclosed that the film raked in an impressive $26m on its initial day of presales.
The cinema giant noted that Swift’s movie surpassed its single-day presale record of $16.9m, previously held by No Way Home, within a minuscule three hours.
Deadline revealed that, collectively, first-day presales across all U.S. theatre chains for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour totaled $37m.
This figure outstrips the entire domestic earnings of films Cats ($27.1m) and Amsterdam ($14.9m), both of which feature Swift.
