Taylor Swift watched Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football but the NFL star was left frustrated with the way the game played out
Travis Kelce walked out of MetLife Stadium alone to make his way to the team bus after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the New York Jets 23-20 on Sunday Night Football.
All eyes were on Kelce with Taylor Swift in attendance, but the tight end had a frustrating night. He started strongly as the Chiefs stormed into a 17-0 lead inside the first quarter.
But the Jets staged a brave fightback, with Kelce struggling to get open and make the big plays fans are accustomed to seeing while quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw two uncharacteristic interceptions. Kelce was unable to score a touchdown as he did when Swift watched him at Arrowhead Stadium the previous week against the Chicago Bears.
After the game, Kelce told The Athletic on the field after the game he was not happy and was frustrated about the offense. He highlighted a number of costly penalties and mistakes which meant it was not the performance he had hoped for with Swift in attendance.
Kelce eventually exited the Kansas City Chiefs locker room and at midnight local time. He made his way straight towards the team bus parked behind MetLife Stadium on his own.
24 minutes later, Swift made her exit and was ushered into a silver car waiting just outside the Chiefs locker room. It is unclear if the pair had a chance to catch up after the game in private.
Swift watched the game alongside a host of big names, including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. The trio arrived at the same time but Reynolds and Lively departed around 20 minutes before Swift, five minutes after Kelce had made his way to the team bus.
After Swift watched the Chiefs win at home to the Bears last weekend, she was filmed leaving the stadium with Kelce. They were later pictured driving away in a convertible car.
She was pictured leaving his Kansas City home a few days later. This week, in New York, Kelce was reportedly seen arriving at her apartment late on Saturday evening and then leaving on Sunday morning at around 11 a.m., a few hours before the game.
A second source insisted to Page Six that Kelce did go back to the team hotel in time for their 11 p.m. curfew, meaning he may have taken a second trip to see Swift on the morning of the game.
The Chiefs will be back in action on the road against the Minnesota Vikings next week (Oct. 8) at U.S. Bank Stadium. It is unclear whether Swift will again make an appearance after being a regular at the last two games.
