“We think he was just protecting the sandwich in the best way possible, by keeping it safe in his belly”
When this police officer’s sandwich disappeared, there was an investigation to see who the culprit was but so far, all the evidence is circumstantial.
Nearly 40 officers serve the Wyandotte, Michigan Police Department and one of them stole a fellow officer’s lunch when he was unexpectedly called away from his lunch break.

It’s hard to believe that a fellow officer would sink that low but that’s exactly what happened to Officer Tate Barwig. The officer was on his lunch break when he was called away to deal with an unruly prisoner. When he returned, what he saw shocked him.
His salami and muenster sandwich was gone. The sandwich only had a couple of bites taken out of it when Officer Barwig left it on the break room desk and now it was missing. Officer Barwig has been on the force for 5 years and this is the first time something like this has happened to him.

The hungry Officer Barwig looked around and then he realized that Officer Ice had been there. At that point, he was certain that Officer Ice was behind the theft since he had a reputation for that sort of thing.
Officer Ice has been with the department for 11 years and has been known to steal food. He serves on the K9 Unit and is a decorated cop who has assisted several federal agencies. He is responsible for hundreds of drug busts.

Despite the assumption of guilt, there is no real evidence that Officer Ice committed the theft. And he’s not talking. The Wyandotte Police Department said:
“Officer Ice has invoked his fifth amendment right to remain silent and quite frankly, is not cooperating with the investigation…”

Since the story was shared on Facebook, it has since gone viral. Many people continue to believe Officer Ice is innocent. However, Officer Barwig continues to believe that Officer Ice stole his lunch. Yet, he did say that the K9 does deserve a sandwich for all his years of service, just not his.
The community has since stepped up to honor the K9. Officer Ice has received an outpouring of love, gifts, and even a sandwich. We think Officer Ice is being framed. It’s impossible that such a good boy would ever take an opportunity to eat a fellow officer’s lunch.
