Six months after Cara Delevingne was seen behaving erratically at a Los Angeles airport, she is addressing the concerning photos for the first time.
The model told Vogue in her April 2023 cover story published Wednesday that the paparazzi snaps were a “reality check” for her sobriety journey.
Delevingne, 30, explained that she had just returned from the Burning Man festival in Nevada in the September 2022 images, noting she “hadn’t slept” and was “not OK.”
The “Carnival Row” star added, “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point, it was like, ‘OK, I don’t look well.’
“So in a way, those pictures were something to be grateful for,” she continued.

Delevingne went on to tell the magazine that being on drugs made her feel “invincible.”
She called her behavior “feral,” noting, “It’s a scary thing to the people around you who love you.”
The “Planet Sex” star, who checked herself into rehab in late 2022, has “had interventions of sorts” before.

“I wasn’t ready,” she recalled. “That’s the problem. If you’re not face-first on the floor and ready to get up again, you won’t. At that point, I really was.
“All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid.”
Now, Delevingne is in a 12-step treatment program that has “made a huge difference” in her life.

The “Suicide Squad” star added that she needs to “work” on herself consistently, saying, “It’s never going to be fixed or fully healed, but I’m OK with that, and that’s the difference.”
Later in the interview, Delevingne thanked her girlfriend, singer Minke, for her steadfastness amid her addiction struggles.

“She’s the type of person who has boundaries, and there came a point when she wasn’t going to have it much longer,” she said of Minke, whose real name is Leah Mason.
“It was a blessing in disguise,” Delevingne continued, going on to also acknowledge the “support” of her friends.
Her A-list pals, from Selena Gomez to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, gushed over Delevingne in the piece.
She also thanked her friends, including Margot Robbie.GTres / SplashNews.com
Margot Robbie, for her part, said, “We shared most of our 20s together, and we were by each other’s side as we entered our 30s. I think it will always be that way — 40s, 50s, 60s.”
The Oscar winner notably made headlines in September 2022 when she was photographed looking visibly distressed hours after leaving Delevingne’s home.
Despite reports that Delevingne’s buds were “desperate” for her to go to rehab, Robbie, 32, denied being emotional in the photos.

The Golden Globe nominee told Vanity Fair in November 2022 that she was “trying to hold a coffee cup and … couldn’t get a hair” out of her eye.
While the “I, Tonya” star did not speak to the images in Wednesday’s profile, she did predict that she and Delevingne will spend their 70th birthdays together.
