Hollywood stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel are one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry right now thanks to their appearance in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, since 2016, the two have been in an on-and-off feud due to some problems on the sets of Fast & Furious.
In August 2016, Johnson blasted his Fast & Furious co-stars for not showing professionalism on the sets. It was confirmed by several sources that there was tension between Johnson and Diesel. Over the years, the two have taken subtle jabs at each other. In 2021, Diesel explained that “tough love” was required in order to get authentic performances.

In June 2021, actor Vin Diesel directly acknowledged his feud with fellow actor Dwayne Johnson. In an interview with Men’s Health, Diesel said,
“My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. As a producer to say, ‘OK, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know’ – Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Fellini-esque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”
Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the franchise, explained that his tough attitude towards Dwayne Johnson was important in order to get authentic performances on-screen.
Dwayne Johnson found Vin Diesel’s statement funny

“I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that and that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on [F9]. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
In October 2021, Johnson explained that he regrets blasting his co-stars in a social media post back in 2016. He explained that he shouldn’t have called out his co-stars publicly.
Dwayne Johnson returned to the franchise

Despite publicly stating that he is done with the Fast & Furious franchise, Dwayne Johnson returned as Luke Hobbs in Fast X‘s post-credits scene, indicating that his time as Hobbs isn’t over. Johnson talked about his return in an Instagram video,
“It has been so incredibly personally gratifying and satisfying and exciting to see your reaction around the world. First of all the secret of Hobbs being back… that was a secret that was impossible to keep. Despite us having our differences, me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years, and despite our differences, when you lead with – number one, resolve – but also you think about the future and plans that are much bigger than ourselves. Those bigger plans are the buildouts. They are the North Star.”
Fans can only hope that Diesel and Johnson actually end their feud this time. Given their history, it is hard to see the two actually getting along.
