Former WBO Heavyweight Champion Shares Special Interaction with Dwayne Johnson on the Fast & Furious Set – ‘He Knew Who I Was’
It’s always been a dream of many to be able to meet Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Almost everyone is a fan of his, including many celebrities. In this long list, a surprising name also outlined his experience of meeting The Great One. It is none other than the former WBO Heavyweight Champion, Joseph Parker. In an interview with TNT Sports, Parker opened up about the surreal experience he had as he got to meet The Rock himself.
How it was meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
While talking with the sports network, he shared the story of how he got to meet Johnson. According to him, it was around the time when Johnson was shooting his action flick, Hobbs & Shaw in Hawaii. It was there when the boxing star got a chance to meet him. Parker, who admitted his nervousness, remarked how a line said by Johnson made him feel better. “He knew who I was so it made it even better”, said Parker as he said that Johnson immediately recognized him.
The acclaimed boxer then said the two talked about various topics such as the fighters in Parker’s division, his experience as the world champion, and many other things. Parker concluded by saying that it was a “breakthrough” and a great experience meeting Dwayne Johnson for the first time. While the meeting might be something that happened way back, Johnson’s relationship with him might have a lot of significance now. Especially considering the latest update on his Hollywood career.
If you are still not aware, Johnson is set to star in a biopic by the indie production house, A24. While the movie is based on the legendary UFC star, Mark Kerr, Parker might still provide him some helpful tips. The Smashing Machine, which will be the name of the biopic, has not started filming yet. As stated earlier, Johnson will play the role of Mark Kerr, a former wrestler and UFC star from the no-holds-barred era.
Kerr had won many accolades during his mixed martial arts career. Amongst these were two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, Pride FC Heavyweight Champion, and many more. Throughout his career, he has fought in 27 matches and won 15 of them. The star is alive and kicking but unfortunately has been battling peripheral neuropathy since 2016. The biopic will revolve around his life in the year 2000 and will follow his journey through addiction, love, winning, and friendship.
This might be the breakout role that Johnson and his fans were waiting for. Do you think Parker will have any involvement with the movie? What did you make of the boxer’s story of meeting the Hollywood star?
