“He began to hit on me, I was not sure what to do”: Brazilian Reporter Did Not Like Vin Diesel Asking Her Out and Flirting With Her During Their Interview

Vin Diesel might be one of the most valuable faces of an action franchise worth more than $6 billion, but that doesn’t mean he’s exempt from controversies. If anything, the actor’s career is brimming with a deluge of scandalous moments; from allegedly driving the long-time Fast & Furious director Justin Lin to quit the film series to poor treatment of crew members, stories about Diesel’s unprofessionalism aren’t unheard of.

But out of all the questionable things he’s indulged in, the actor and producer’s misdemeanor during an interview probably takes the cake.

When Vin Diesel Didn’t Know What ‘Boundaries’ Meant

All fast & furious and no charm, that’s the energy Vin Diesel exuded in his 2016 interview.

While talking about Steven Spielberg’s 1998 film, Saving Private Ryan, wherein he starred alongside Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, Diesel made things excruciatingly unpleasant for the interviewer. What started off as gratuitous compliments about her physical appearance soon spiraled off into unprofessionalism with Diesel’s perverse persistence on the subject of the interviewer’s “beauty.”

Talking to Brazilian interviewer Carol Moreira, the Fast X star, remarked just how “beautiful” she was and how he couldn’t possibly focus on anything else but her. “God, she’s so beautiful,” Diesel, 55 told the crew behind the cameras. “Am I right or wrong? I mean look at her. How am I supposed to do this interview?” But that wasn’t all because he somehow felt the need to reiterate the same thing again and again. “Talk to me baby. Look how beautiful she is.”

Even a bunch of obviously awkward laughs on Moreria’s part and the palpably tense atmosphere didn’t deter Diesel who soon segued into a more inappropriate track by asking the former out for lunch. “Tell me your story. Let’s get out of here,” he insisted. “Let’s go. Let’s go have lunch.” And as if things weren’t atrociously uncomfortable enough for Moreria, the Guardians of the Galaxy star then started to declare his love for her. Yikes.

“My God, I love her!” he said. “How am I supposed to sit here when I’m looking at such beauty? She’s so beautiful. I’m in love. I’m in love with the interviewer!” Nobody ever failed to read the room like this guy.

Carol Moreira Felt Uncomfortable During the Entire Interview

Owing to Diesel’s implacable advances toward Moreria, the film vlogger and YouTuber was naturally fidgeting with discomfort throughout the interview. For her part though, Moreria tried her level best to steer the conversation toward any other subject other than what Diesel was talking about. She even managed to change the topic for a good while, but alas, her relief was short-lived because before you knew it, Diesel was back at it again.

After pulling through what must’ve been one of her most uncomfortable interviews with a celebrity, Moreria then revealed how unbearable that experience had been for her. When she uploaded the video on her page, she talked about it for a solid minute, claiming how she was wholly unhappy by Diesel’s unnecessary and inappropriate comments but didn’t “how to react” since the Fast & Furious star would keep interrupting her all the time. Here’s her translated statement –

“He began to hit on me in the middle of the interview, say that I was pretty, and he interrupted the interview three times to talk about it. I was laughing, completely uncomfortable. I was not sure what to do. I just laughed because it was a very delicate situation. I did not like it. At the time I did not know how to react, but you will see that I was uncomfortable, it was not nice that he interrupted my work.”

Diesel then went over to Facebook to publicly apologize to her, noting how his only intention was to keep things lighthearted, never to “offend” anyone. “As you all know, I try to keep my interviews playful and fun, especially when I am in the Xander Zone… But if I offended anyone, then let me apologize because that is never my intention,” he wrote.

It looks like the actor’s idea of “fun” is a whole lot different from others.
