In an interview with Variety, the celebrity spoke about her excitement on being part of the film. She also gushed about her co-star’s acting talent, elaborated on her experiences sharing screen space with him, and detailed the memorable takeaways from her stint on the film set.
“It was so cool working with him. He’s an amazing actor. I was so excited to do Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal. He’s an insane actor. Every time, you’re learning. My job as an actor, especially on Shrinking, is to make everyone look good by knowing what the hell I’m doing on set. I love volleying, and I got to do that with Jake.”
This remake directed by Doug Liman is also a risky move for Jake Gyllenhaal. While Swayze’s film did not make much money at the box office, it turned out to become a cult hit that gave the late star one of his most memorable roles. It now remains to be seen if Gyllenhaal’s version can live up to the original.
Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House Remake Is An Ode To Patrick Swayze
Remakes can be tricky business, but Jake Gyllenhaal has proved that he’s willing to take that risk with his interpretation of Patrick Swayze’s iconic role in Road House. Swayze became synonymous with the fighter who turns bouncer courting trouble in a bar. Now, nearly 35 years later, the Oscar nominee is stepping into the Dirty Dancing star’s big shoes.
Jake Gyllenhaal will play Patrick Swayze’s role in the remake of Road House
Gyllenhaal in an interview with Fox News, revealed that there were expectedly high expectations on him to do justice to the part immortalized by Swayze who was also his close friend. Speaking of incorporating elements of the late star’s style as an ode to his memory, he said,
“Patrick was a friend when he was here. He was always so loving and lovely to me, and I take that all to heart in playing the role and there are some things I take from him.”
Apart from honoring Swayze in this manner, Gyllenhaal went on to state that the film would be an original and unique take on its predecessor which was an exciting prospect for him.
