“I shouldn’t have shared that”: Dwayne Johnson Regretted Shaming Vin Diesel in Public Despite Claiming Female Co-Stars Thanked Him for Standing Up

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s feud is now iconic in Hollywood. The two co-stars of the Fast and Furious franchise locked horns with each other publicly after The Rock called out Diesel for making life difficult for him on the sets and not behaving like a professional.

Johnson’s Instagram post shocked many as it was proof that the rumors about the two heavyweights of the franchise fighting on the sets were true. But were the rest of the cast and crew inconvenienced by the two taking their punches public? Not really as per Johnson. In fact, they were thankful.

A few years ago, entertainment sites were busy reporting the drama apparently going on in the Fast and Furious franchise between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. While there was a lot of interest in the feud, many also dismissed those reports as just rumors until Johnson went public with his grievances and called out Diesel. In an Instagram post, he wrote:
“My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling—you’re right.”

This post gave legitimacy to every report that came out about the two stars. So Johnson in an interview with Vanity cleared up what was actually going on. He said that the crew of Fast and Furious thanked him for calling out the lead of the franchise. While it must have felt great to act as a spokesperson for the people who cannot speak out against their boss, Johnson ultimately regretted going public with his emotions.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Dwayne Johnson expressed that he shouldn’t have shared his intense and angry emotions about Vin Diesel on a public platform and essentially aired out their dirty laundry. He said:
“It wasn’t my best day, sharing that. I shouldn’t have shared that. Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA. I don’t share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bullshit away from the public. They don’t need to know that. That’s why I say it wasn’t my best day.”

However, what probably gave him a little respite was that the crew appreciated his actions. The Rock revealed, “It (his post) caused a firestorm. Yet interestingly enough…[it was] as if every single crew member found their way to me and either quietly thanked me or sent me a note.” Since the post was published, Johnson has departed the racing franchise and has publicly said that he doesn’t plan on returning.

Fast X, the next installment in the franchise, releases on 19 May 2023.
