Nicolas Cage wants to walk away from films. Reveals he wants to work in television shows instead.
Nicolas Cage is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. Having been a part of some of the biggest films in Hollywood, with the perfect examples being the Ghost Rider films, National Treasure, Face/Off, and Pig, he has spent his lengthy career establishing himself as a truly exceptional actor.
His acting range is like no other in the industry, having some of the most diverse characters as well as one of the most versatile careers in Hollywood. He has been awarded for this skill time and time again, even being nominated for an Academy Award once, for the role of Charlie Kaufman in Adaptation, and winning the same in the category of Best Actor for his work in Leaving Las Vegas
Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)Being as successful as he is, one would expect him to be doing cinema and film for the rest of his life. However, like many others, the actor has recently revealed that he wishes to retire from making films altogether. While this may upset many fans, Cage followed this news up by revealing something much more exciting.
The actor revealed that he wishes to focus more on television series and not as much on films.

Nicolas Cage Wants To Stop Making Films
For the promotion of his upcoming film, Dream Scenario, Nicolas Cage recently gave an interview with Uproxx. Here the actor talked about how, when it comes to his action, he does not like to stick to one style or genre for too long. This is something that can be easily noticed when looking at his filmography.
However, he followed this statement up by saying something quite shocking for fans of his. He explained that after having worked in over a hundred films, he no longer wished to continue working in cinema.
Nicolas Cage in Dream Scenario
“I mean, I like to keep mixing it up. I don’t want to get stuck in any genre or any performance style. I want to do it all. And I feel that I’ve, at this point – after 45 years of doing this; that in over 100 movies – I feel I’ve pretty much said what I’ve had to say with cinema. And I’d like to leave on a high note and say, “Adios.” I think I have to do maybe three or four more movies before I can get there.”
He elaborated on this, stating that he believes that when it comes to his craft, he has said all that he can say and thinks that there isn’t much left for him to talk about through his acting. He confessed that he felt like he had only a few more films left in him, after which, he would like to walk away from films.
He added that he would like to leave when he is at the peak of his acting, as well as his career, rather than being forced out of the industry due to circumstances.

This Isn’t The End For Nicolas Cage’s Acting Career Though
This statement on its own would have terrified, not only fans of the actor, but those passionate about cinema in general, considering just how much Nicolas Cage has contributed to Hollywood.
However, he went on to follow this statement by saying that after he feels like he has had enough of movies, he would like to bring about some change in his professional life, wanting to try something new instead. He explained that he was specifically interested in the world of streaming and television series.
Nicolas Cage and John Travolta
“I am very interested in immersion streaming with episodic television. I have seen things that can be done now with characters and the time they’re given to express themselves. I saw Bryan Cranston stare at a suitcase for an hour on one episode of Breaking Bad. We don’t have time to do that in a feature film, so maybe television is the next best step for me. We’ll see.”
He elaborated on this, stating that he loves how immersive these types of projects are because of the amount of time the audiences and actors spend with these characters. He took the example of Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad, talking about how this stretch in time limit helps the actors delve deeper into the characters that they are playing and get more to explore them as people.
This might be one of the best news that Cage could have given his fans as, though he has featured in television series here and there, none have given him enough time to give the truly exception performances that he is known for.
