Idris Elba bought a luxury villa in the Maldives paradise just for relaxation
This holiday season, Hollywood celebrities embarked on extravagant vacations to exotic destinations.
The Kardashian family indulged in a luxurious Aspen lodge, Ansel Elgort rented a Dominican Republic retreat, and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shared glimpses of their travels in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Turks and Caicos. However, Idris Elba’s getaway to the Maldives might just have been the most breathtaking.
The Hobbs & Shaw actor and his wife, Sabrina, escaped to the One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives, residing in one of the property’s overwater villas.
Situated on one of the largest private islands in North Malé Atoll, Elba’s villa can only be accessed via high-stilted wooden walkways.
Surrounded by the mesmerizing turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, this one-bedroom sanctuary hovers above the sea, boasting an expansive layout comprising a living and dining area and a spa-like bathroom. The villa’s design seamlessly blends local architecture with Balinese elements.
Inside, the villa exudes chic tranquility, while the exterior is equally remarkable. Elba enjoyed a private infinity pool that seamlessly merges with the breathtaking backdrop and is enveloped by catamaran nets perfect for lounging.
Additionally, there’s a separate balcony with a daybed overlooking the ocean, an outdoor dining space ideal for romantic dinners under the stars, and an outdoor shower, epitomizing the concept of indoor-outdoor living. The direct lagoon access was undoubtedly the icing on the cake for the Cats star.
When he ventured beyond his luxurious abode, the English actor explored the resort’s surroundings on a bicycle, relaxed on the pristine sandy beaches, savored a romantic private dining experience at Tapasake restaurant, and unwound at the stylish Rah Bar.
Elba, an avid soccer player, even participated in the One&Only Festive Football Tournament, and on New Year’s Eve, he surprised fellow guests with a DJ performance, adding an unforgettable touch to an already remarkable vacation.
