Joan Rivers Tells Selena Gomez To ‘Shut Up’ About Gaza Conflict

Many celebrities have been weighing in on the Israel-Palestine conflict and now outspoken comedian Joan Rivers has added her voice to the crowd — going off on Selena Gomez and Rihanna.

Being interviewed via satellite by a news station in Israel, the 81-year-old was asked about stars like Gomez making seemingly pro-Palestinian comments.

“Selena Gomez, who just came out of rehab, who I believe is not a college girl, Rihanna, who is beautiful and not the smartest blub in the lamp – they see pictures of (dead) children and they go crazy,” exclaimed Rivers. “I think Israel should show pictures of dead puppies and these girls will turn right around.”

She continued: “They’re not listening. If America were being attacked by Mexico and one rocket came over, there would not be a Mexico.”

Rivers then declared, “These girls should shut up, and put on pretty clothes, and get themselves off of drugs.”

Rivers, born Joan Alexandra Molinsky in New York, is the daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants.

Gomez, 22, posted an Instagram post a couple of weeks ago that read: “It’s About Humanity. Pray for Gaza.”

“Please pray for those families and babies today,” it continued. “Please always remember what’s important in life. It’s not any of this. We are here to help, inspire and love. Be that change. #wearethenextgeneration.”

The “Fashion Police” host also claimed the militant organization Hamas – listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State – is to blame for the conflict and that they are using old pictures of dead children every time Israel bombs Gaza. This, Rivers argued, is making Israel lose the war on the public relations front.

“The wrong people, the dumb people are buying into it,” she said.

Rivers, who has made incendiary comments before about everything including the women kidnapped by Ariel Castro, is not the first person to call out celebrities and their apparent support for the Palestinian cause.

Actor Jon Voight called out Spanish actors Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, saying their open letter denouncing Israel’s actions was “anti-Semitic.”

“You should hang your heads in shame. You should all come forth with deep regrets for what you did, and ask forgiveness from the suffering people in Israel,” the 75-year-old actor wrote in a letter published in The Hollywood Reporter.
