Lady Gaga, Aly Raisman and several other A-listers have taken to social media to support Selena Gomez after her triumphant return to the spotlight
Selena Gomez made her triumphant return to the spotlight at Sunday’s American Music Awards following a career hiatus to focus on her mental health – and her fellow A-listers were glad to have her back.
Stars like Lady Gaga,Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Aly Raisman and more took to social media after the singer’s moving acceptance speech to send congratulations Gomez’s way – and gush about the 24-year-old they called “radiant” and “the biggest rockstar of the night.”
“So dope I got to hang with the biggest rockstar of the night.(Ya,know besides Sting and Green Day) …the girl with the biggest prize of all a BIG Heart that she shares with the world,” Gaga wrote alongside an Instagram photo of herself embracing Gomez.
Gomez accepted the award for favorite female artist in the pop/rock category, and spoke out about her break from the limelight in the emotional address.
“I think it’s safe to say that most of you know a lot of my life, whether I like it or not. I had to stop, ’cause I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said.”I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.”
Raisman, the Olympic Gold medalist, shared a portion of the singer’s speech in a Twitter video, writing, “Amazing!!! @selenagomez looking so effortlessly beautiful. Love the message. Congrats, well deserved.”
Fifth Harmony‘s Cabello gushed abut the “Same Old Love” singer, sharing a video of the acceptance speech on Twitter and writing, “I love you.”
As Gomez delivered her speech, stars like Gaga and Ariana Grande appeared to be visibly touched by Gomez’s words. Her gal pal Taylor Swift also showed her support for the star and her win, posting an Instagram video of herself screaming when Gomez won the award.
At the end of August, Gomez took a career break to focus on her emotional health. Multiple sources confirmed the star recently sought professional treatment to get back into a positive standing.
Now, the star is back, and had a special message for her fans at the award show:
“If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken … whether you respect me or not, one thing you should know about is I care about people.”
