Reneé Rapp Talks About Her Crush On Justin Bieber—and His “Lesbian” Look, “Which Is Hot”

Leave it to Reneé Rapp to say the most hilarious, Reneé Rapp thing ever about the crush she once had on Justin Bieber.

During her Q&A with Teen Vogue at Teen Vogue Summit in Los Angeles on Saturday, the singer chatted about her career, reprising her role as Regina George in the upcoming Mean Girls musical movie, and the Biebs.

In October, Rapp performed a Halloween show at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre where she serenaded The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung with Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl” while dressed as the pop star. Teen Vogue brought this up during the chat at Summit, asking Rapp’s thoughts on why queer girls and Bieber are a thing and what prompted her to take the stage in Bieber gear.

As the audience erupted in cheers and laughter, Rapp responded, “When I first signed to Interscope, my pitch of myself was bisexual Justin Bieber. So I don’t know, he’s just always been a staple to me. That was my one boy crush as a kid. I was like ‘that boy is so cute.’ And now I think it’s because he looks like a lesbian—which is hot.

Next up for Rapp is the Mean Girls movie musical, which hits theaters on January 12, 2024. The actress, who played the role of Regina on Broadway, says she’s bringing new energy to it.

“It’s inherently different because when I did it on Broadway, I was 19 and now, I’m 23 and I’m much more comfortable in myself,” she shared with the crowd at Summit, adding, “I think especially for a character like Regina, you need all those nuances so that you don’t hate that character because she is a b*tch and you have to make her likeable so that’s like a task in and of itself.”

Rapp closed out Teen Vogue Summit by performing “Talk Too Much,” “Snow Angel” and “Tummy Hurts” off her new album Snow Angel. She also confirmed her sophomore album is on its way, which of course made the crowd go wild.

Who knows…maybe this means we’ll get a Reneé Rapp and Justin Bieber collaboration in the near future…
