Teen Mom star reveals possible ankle amputation due to brutal injuries from near-fatal car accident in gruesome photos

TEEN Mom star Nelson Thomas has revealed he may possibly have to get his ankle amputated.

Cory Wharton’s friend, Nelson, was pulled from a burning car after a blazing crash earlier this year.

Nelson, 34, an MTV fixture on Teen Mom and The Challenge, updated concerned fans on Instagram this week.

Wiping tears from his face, he began a video from his doctor’s office: “Aw man, well,” struggling to get the words out.

“I’m at the Texas orthopedists. My doctor- everyone- I just got my scans back. Just got my X-rays back.”

“The bone has been rebroken.

“It’s out of place, it’s not healing at all.”

“I’ve been having pain these last two weeks, but I thought it was from me maybe overworking it from physical therapy.”

He added he’s been diagnosed as being in a “salvage” stage, whether either they can “salvage” his ankle or “amputate it.”

“But no, where they have the screws and plates, the bone broke. It did not reheal.”

Nelson added that he was promised his ankle would re-heal in a year, which it’s nearly been, making him upset beyond words.

He captioned the video: “I received the most disheartening news about my ankle. I’ve chosen to seek a second opinion from a specialist. If you have any recommendations for doctors specializing in ankle fusion or related treatments, please comment below.”

Maci Bookout commented: “God didn’t bring you this far to leave you.”

Others replied: “I am soooo sorry to hear this. You already know you’re constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Continuing to send you lots of love and prayers.”

And: “Definitely get a second opinion. We’re all here for you no matter what. Sending you love and prayers.”

Nelson crashed his car in March while driving in Austin, Texas.

The vehicle quickly exploded into flames, and the reality star was trapped inside.

But luckily, fellow drivers passing by stopped and were able to pull him from the car.

After several days of silence, Nelson opened up a few days later about the scary scene.

“I was involved in a car accident,” Nelson said bluntly on Instagram before thanking his rescuers.

“I am forever grateful to (them) for pulling me out of a burning vehicle, risking their own lives to save mine. Words can’t explain how grateful I am to be alive.”

The former finalist on Invasion of the Champions shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed, followed by a series of gruesome pictures of just how bad his injuries are.

His legs and arms looked to be severely burned, and he seemed to have needed stitches to help his recovery.

“I’m in high spirits and getting stronger,” he continued, before admitting: “This will be a long road to recovery but to my fans, friends and family please keep me in your prayers.”

Cory shared his own gratitude and wrote on Instagram Stories: “So thankful for the angels looking over my brother & the people that helped him get pulled out of his car. We live to see another day.”

One of the rescuers, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver KJ Osborn, appeared ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s podcast, providing more details about his heroic act.

“I’m on my way home, I’m on the back of an Uber, and my head is down and I’m on my phone, just on my way home.

“My Uber driver just starts going crazy. He’s like, ‘Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!’ I look up, and I’m wondering what’s all the fuss about and there’s nobody on the street.

“He’s like, ‘This guy crashed,’ and I look to my right and there’s a car, if you were to picture it, under a bridge’s pillars. His car is head-on. He hit the pillar and his car is in flames.”

KJ wrote on his Instagram that he was simply in the right place at the right time.
