“They Waited Four Hours for Him”: Furious 7’s Cast & Crew Was Sick of Vin Diesel’s Unprofessionalism on Set After He Allegedly Refused to Cooperate

Unlike most productions for crafting new entries in the Fast and Furious franchise, the making of the 7th installment was a tough task, as they would lose one of their most prominent stars in a fateful accident. Paul Walker’s death, who was one of the main leads alongside Vin Diesel, would go on to take a huge toll on the whole film crew, especially Diesel.

But despite the difficulties, they would be able to craft one of the best entries in the franchise. However, saying goodbye to his old friend wasn’t easy on the Bloodshot star, as reports claimed that Diesel’s demeanor allegedly had an adverse effect on the crew.

Vin Diesel’s alleged unprofessionalism might have hindered the production of Furious 7

According to reports, during the filming of the 7th installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, there were reports sharing the spotlight on Vin Diesel‘s alleged unprofessionalism on the sets of the movie. Considering that the morale of the whole team was already low due to the fateful incident, Diesel being late and disrupting the filming process was adding extra baggage to everyone’s shoulders. One insider claimed,

“Vin spent a whole day in his trailer one day. The next day, they waited four hours for him. He called a meeting [May 28] of studio execs to his trailer for two-and-a-half hours to say, ‘What the f— am I doing here?’

However, these allegations were eventually brushed off by Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley, as she claimed that, “The crew and cast, led by Vin, have been nothing but terrific under these circumstances”. Although the concerns regarding Diesel’s behavior onset weren’t exclusive to this particular situation, as he has been repeatedly accused of being unprofessional over the years.

Vin Diesel might have been the reason behind Justin Lin’s exit from the franchise

Over the years, Vin Diesel has repeatedly been called out for his work ethic and it was allegedly the reason that fueled the controversy between him and The Rock, leading to the latter’s exit from the franchise. However, the departure of director Justin Lin after F9 was also allegedly a result of Diesel’s alleged lack of professionalism and creative differences. One report claimed, “Diesel shows up late to the set. He doesn’t know his lines. And he shows up out of shape,”

Although there hasn’t been any substantial weight behind these claims, it’s obvious that these setbacks haven’t stopped him from garnering success, as he is set to lead the upcoming film in the franchise.

Fast X will hit theatres on 19 May 2023.
