“This will just be stupid”: Timothy Olyphant Regrets Turning Down Leading $6B Franchise With Dwayne Johnson After Finding Storyline Extremely Boring
It is hard to imagine anyone in the role of Dominic Toretto in the iconic Fast and Furious franchise except Vin Diesel. However, it seems that even before the Bloodshot actor got behind the wheel in the franchise, the Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant was the initial choice for the role of Dominic Toretto back in the 2000s.
But even though the actor has shared an illustrious career and has garnered several accolades and Emmy nominations under his belt. He decided to reject the offer, as he believed that the franchise won’t be successful in the long run.

Timothy Olyphant was surprised by the success of the Fast and Furious franchise
During his appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Timothy Olyphant opened up about the time when he almost landed the role of Dominic Toretto, which made millions for Vin Diesel. While explaining his reason behind rejecting the alluring offer, the actor jokingly said that he was assured that the movie won’t be successful. The Deadwood actor stated that he wasn’t able to connect with the script and found it pretty boring, which led him to pass the chance. He said,
“I just thought, well, this will just be stupid, and I thought no one is gonna wanna see this movie eight or nine different times. I mean, by the third or fourth sequel, people are gonna definitely get bored of it. Right?”
But to Olyphant’s surprise, not only the first movie was successful but it also spawned an enormous franchise, which has now reportedly grossed more than $6.6 billion at the global box office through its releases. However, the Deadwood actor doesn’t seem to share any regrets that he lost the opportunity to star alongside Dwayne Johnson on the big screen.

As Jeremy Renner once too expressed that he doesn’t have any regrets about rejecting the offer to star in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy.
