Depending on who you ask, Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s feud is either legendary or embarrassing. The two co-stars of the Fast and Furious franchise logged heads after Johnson made a public post saying it was frustrating to work with his male co-stars in the franchise.
After that, the Red Notice star left the racing franchise to join DC’s Black Adam. However, once the DC film failed to rack up a respectable box office number and James Gunn took over to reboot the franchise, Johnson joined Fast and Furious again. But even before all this drama, Vin Diesel was always ready to welcome Johnson.
Vin Diesel Always Wanted Dwayne Johnson To Return To Fast And Furious

In a 2017 interview with USA Today, Vin Diesel revealed that he and his Fast and Furious co-star are close friends despite the public feud. He also said that their quarrel was amplified way more than it actually was. The actor said:
“I don’t think the world really knows how close we are, in a weird way. I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I worked in this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”

Diesel also said that his job is to protect the franchise and the cast, and that includes The Rock as well. He further explained that Johnson knows that they are brothers. The star said:
“I protect the franchise. I protect everybody including Dwayne. I protected Dwayne more than he’ll ever know. And it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it. Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that’s me.”
There were rumors that the Jungle Cruise star was trying to take over Diesel’s globally recognized racing franchise. However, none of the two stars in the middle of this feud have ever confirmed that and no one will probably know what actually happened because Johnson is back in the franchise.
Dwayne Johnson Returns To The Fast And Furious With A New Standalone Film

In an Instagram post, Dwayne Johnson addressed his public argument with Vin Diesel and clarified that both of them have put it behind them, and are ready to put the franchise first. The Rock said:
“Last summer Vin Diesel and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & fans that we love. I’ve built my career on an ‘audience first’ mentality and that will always serve as my north star.”

Additionally, Variety reported that a Luke Hobbs standalone film was in the works within the franchise. No plot details were revealed but the site reported that:
“The new movie will bridge between the events of the just-released Fast X and the upcoming Fast X: Part II, which is expected in 2025. Johnson just appeared as Hobbs, a diplomatic security service agent, in a credits scene for Fast X.”
Now, it remains to be seen if this film materializes, and if Diesel and Johnson’s friendship can stand the test of time.
