Katy Perry was among the big winners at the People’s Choice Awards in Hollywood last night as she collected two gongs.

Perry, whose infectious pop hits California Gurls and Teenage Dream dominated the charts last year, picked up trophies for favourite female artist and favourite online sensation, beating the flamboyant Lady Gaga.

The 26-year-old singer wore an eye-catching purple and white dress to the event at the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles which she teamed with peep-toe pink heels.

Speaking to the audience, she said: ‘I’ve had an incredible year.’

Taking to Twitter after the ceremony, Perry posted: ‘OH MY WE WON TWO PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS! Thank you SO much! I really appreciate all ur continuous love & support! Remember u have the POWER!’
