Despite definitely being a couple who can afford help around the clock, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have explained why they won’t get a full-time nanny for their daughter.
The celebrity couple announced the arrival of Daisy Dove Bloom into the world in August 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak and four years after they were first spotted spending time together.
The little girl would have turned two this year, but despite being at an age famous for being ‘terrible’, Perry isn’t looking to have any more time away from her daughter than necessary.
Perry spoke about her approach to motherhood on the SmartLess podcast, where she noted she is ‘working a lot’ alongside being a mother but noting she had ‘always worked a lot’.
Her and Bloom do have a nanny, but only one who works part-time.
The ‘Teenage Dream’ singer explained: “I have a wonderful nanny, but I don’t have a full-time nanny because I feel like if I had a full-time nanny, I would never be able to know how to care for my daughter like I’m meant to.”
Daisy is Perry’s first child, while Bloom shares a son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Perry is currently in the midst of a Vegas residency, in which she performs multiple times a week. While she’s all ‘Hot N Cold’ on stage, on her days off she goes into ‘mom mode’ and makes a conscious effort to spend time with her daughter, even if it leaves her suffering the ‘no-sleep shakes’.
“It doesn’t matter if I’ve had a show that goes to 11pm the night before, I’m waking up at 6 o’clock and we’re gonna go and do breakfast,” the mum said.

Her desire to be around her child is fuelled further by the fact that Daisy is at an age at the moment where she’s ‘saying new words every day’.
“The other day she was saying some words that I didn’t teach her, and I was like “Damn it. That doesn’t feel good’,” Perry said.
The singer admitted it was ‘such an interesting thing’ giving birth to her child as the world went into lockdown, because ‘everything paused besides that’.
However, she said Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando is the ‘best dad’ to their daughter and that she loves the experience she’s having with Daisy now.
Perry added that becoming a mum is the ‘best decision’ she ever made for her life.
