The 28-year-old said in an interview with Stationhead that she now considers Rihanna and Jay-Z to be her role models, because she wants ‘to build a huge brand’.

‘When I came to the game and people used to be like, ‘Who do you look up to?’ I always used to say, ‘I don’t look up to nobody,’ because I didn’t really understand the game and I only feel like I got influenced by the people that was around me,’ Cardi explained.
The rapper has had nine top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 since her breakthrough single Bodak Yellow.
‘Now that I’m at the level that I’m at, one of my biggest influences is Rihanna and Jay-Z,’ Cardi said in the interview. ‘And I’m not just saying it to kiss a** or anything.’

‘I just feel like they’re so influential because Rihanna comes from a country, a Caribbean country, that my parents came from and she’s a whole billionaire.’

As for Jay-Z? Well, she said, ‘he’s from the hood just like me. He’s from the hood and this man’s a whole billionaire. And that’s just all about strategy and that’s just all about shaking hands, that’s just all about putting plans together.’

The anti-porn group said the performance ‘could have been cut from a hardcore pornography film,’ adding that it glamorized ‘stripping and prostitution.’
Cardi and Megan also got embroiled in a Twitter spat with conservative commentator Candace Owens.
Cardi defended the song in multiple interviews and on social media, telling Australia’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show: ‘The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people.’
