“I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen,’ ” Cardi B recalls to Harper’s Bazaar about her initial feelings on PPD
Postpartum depression doesn’t discriminate about who it affects — even superstars like Cardi B.
The rapper, 26, revealed in her interview for the Spring Fashion Issue of Harper’s Bazaar that after welcoming daughter Kulture Kiari, 6 months, with husband Offset, she experienced feelings she wasn’t exactly expecting.
“I thought I was going to avoid it. When I gave birth, the doctor told me about postpartum and I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen,’ ” says Cardi B.
“But out of nowhere, the world was heavy on my shoulders,” recalls the “I Like It” hitmaker.

Cardi B was initially extremely protective of her baby girl — whom she welcomed with the Migos rapper, 27, on July 10 — when it came to sharing her image on social media.
“As soon as she was born, one month in [Offset] was like, ‘She’s so beautiful. Watch how people gonna go crazy.’ ‘Cause a lot of people were saying mean stuff, like that we don’t post her because she’s ugly,” the new mom says.
“He was like, ‘I’m about to post my baby right now,’ ” Cardi B continues. “But then we were very concerned because we were getting a lot of threats, so he said, ‘The world don’t even deserve to see her.’ ”

Given her successful debut album, Invasion of Privacy, dozens of awards and life in the limelight, it’s no wonder the seven-time Grammy-nominated artist from The Bronx, New York, feels like she’s living in a “fairy tale.”
“And I’m a princess — rags to riches, people trying to sabotage,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar of the fantasy she feels like she’s living on a daily basis. “Before, I cared about everything — relationship, gossip. Now I don’t feel like I have the time to please people.”
“I don’t care about anything anymore — just my career and my kid,” says Cardi B. “Well, I care about my career because of my money.”
