Now we all know Cardi B is not afraid to speak her mind and let people have it online sometimes but in a new interview the ‘Bongos’ rapper shared some advice to other artist on how they should move when it comes to addressing trolls online.
While speaking on The Spout Podcast, the Grammy winning rapper spoke about how she deals with handling haters and mentioned how she takes a few notes from play Beyoncé’s playbook. “Surprisingly, I have held myself back a lot … from a lot of things,” Cardi B shared. “You see how Beyoncé addresses her things — she does not address them at all. I feel like every artist should do what works for them and what’s good for they mental health because I feel like, if addressing things to Beyoncé affects her mental health, then don’t do it.”
Cardi has had her fair share of viral moments online where she had to respond to hater but during this conversation she did admit that sometimes that approach doesn’t work everyone. “But me, bottling things inside and let people, like, front certain narratives of me, it will bother me inside. So, I’d rather just let it out,” she explained. “So, I feel like everybody should, like, address their issues however they feel like they’re going to be comfortable in doing. That’s how I feel, like, everybody is different.”
In the new interview, Cardi also spoke about the release of new hit song “Bongos” and her friendship with Megan Thee Stallion, saying, “I know what it feels like when you feel like everybody, like, turned your back. Don’t ever think it’s because you did something wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong. People just love something to debate about.”
Speaking of the two artist they most recently just shut down the VMAs with their first performance of the new song. The VMAs this year had big expectations and after their electrifying performance fans were left proud of the two artist. From the looks, to the choreography and the visuals the ladies put the same effort into the performance that was seen in the music video which has 12 million views and has only been out for 7 days.
Both Cardi and Megan have been nominated for awards at the VMAs, further cementing their impact on the music scene. Their previous collaboration, “WAP,” took the world by storm and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With “Bongos,” Cardi initially planned it as a solo track but decided to bring Megan on board to add an extra layer of dynamism. This decision proved to be a game-changer, as the song and its accompanying music video have garnered immense attention and praise.
