A poor little pooch left clinging to life after living under a shed for a year following the death of his owner has made a miraculous recovery and hopes are high he’ll soon have a new home.
Woody’s rescue was recorded for a video both heart wrenching and uplifting by the stalwart team of animal lovers behind Hope For Paws.
Thanks to the group’s dedication to rescuing animals and Woody’s unbelievable transformation, offers to adopt the lucky mutt have flooded in.
Sad: Woody was left to live under a shed for a full year after his owner died and his house was sold
Bad shape: The poor little pooch was finally coaxed out and rescued by the group Hope for Paws, who found him at death’s door, horribly matted and blind in one eye
Woody was kept alive after his owner died thanks to caring neighbors who fed him and gave him water.
He’d taken to living under a shed for an entire year beside his former home. His owner’s family had sold the house and let Woody fend for himself.
Despite the caring efforts of neighbors, Woody was near death when Hope For Paws and its founder Eldad Hagar came to the rescue.
The footage speaks for itself. Woody is a matted mess and looks helpless and sad as the team manages to pull him out from under the shed.
Transformation: Rescuers gave Woody a good once-over with some clippers to remove his matted hair and his transformation was shocking
Shocking: Underneath all the hair, Woody was dangerously skinny and frail and blind in one eye
Bittersweet: Woody had gone so long without someone to love that he immediately became attached to his rescuers
Viewers then see his subsequent shaving and Woody’s true sickly, fragile form is revealed.
Woody at first refused to eat and had to be fed through an IV.
But fast-forward a few months and the once bedraggled dog is beautiful again.
He still sports one blind eye, but he’s grown a new coat of clean, curly fur and the love of his foster family has turned him into a completely new animal.
Hagar’s friend Lisa Charelli is currently fostering Woody, writes the Huffington Post, but he’ll soon need a forever home.
Thanks to his startling story and video of his transformation, Hope for Paws is now reviewing a mountain of potential new parents for lively and loveable Woody.
Unbelievable: Woody has now transformed into a lively, loveable pooch
Hopeful: Woody’s unbelievable transformation encouraged many potential forever parents to apply to adopt him and he’ll likely soon find a home
