Cardi B proved the saying ‘beauty is pain’ on Wednesday night when she smiled her way through Tom Ford’s New York Fashion Week show, all while her toes were apparently being crushed by the straps of her sky-high designer heels.

The 25-year-old rapper looked incredibly elegant in a floor-length black dress and bold statement earrings at the event, but upon closer inspection, it seems the new mother put herself (or at least her feet) through some serious agony throughout the evening.

Deciding to add a few more inches to her petite frame, Cardi wore a pair of designer Giuseppe Zanotti’s classic Harmony heels, a popular, and pricey style, that features three thin straps to hold the foot in place.

Crushed: Despite how tight the straps of the $845 shoes appeared on Cardi B's feet, she seemed to enjoy the evening and her entire outfit

But while the dainty straps might look very pretty, the reality is much more painful – at least according to images from the event, which show Cardi’s toes being squished together by the incredibly tight front strap on the shoes.

And the straps weren’t the only cause for concern.

The extraordinary height of the heels – which measure in at 4.7 inches – seemed to cause Cardi’s toes to bend uncomfortably under the pressure of being forced into such a peculiar angle.

Remarkably, the Bodak Yellow hitmaker appeared unbothered by her tight shoes – and even raved about the accessory on social media.

She shared a photo of the heels to her Instagram on Wednesday evening, captioning the post, ‘TOM FORD SHOES| @giuseppezanotti.’

To compliment the towering heels and black dress, Cardi B paired the look with gold chandelier earrings covered in gems that dangled down to her collarbone.

Taking a break: The rapper made sure to pose sitting down at one point - no doubt to give her feet some reprieve from the shoes

Beauty is pain: Cardi made sure her toes were ready for their night out, sporting a bright pink nail polish, but unfortunately the shoes didn’t allow them to be properly showcased

One piece of jewelry missing from the entire ensemble was Cardi B’s eight-carat tear-shaped wedding ring from Migos rapper Offset.

Cardi B had her long dark tresses brushed straight back, and they echoed the frock’s structured shoulders giving the ensemble an 80s meets timeless beauty vibe.

She painted her lips a deep rose and sliver eyeliner sat against smoky purple eye shadow.

During the show, the musician sat next to New York Fashion Week alum Adriana Lima as they celebrated Tom Ford and his latest pieces.

Besides the New York Fashion Week festivities last night, there was also a star-studded event in London for the 2018 GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Chrissy Teigen, 32, attended the event with her husband, John Legend, 39, where she wore a shimmery gray and blush gown.

But she, too, seemed to be taking on the ‘beauty is pain’ mantra with her strappy heels that cinched right across her toes.

Like Cardi B, Chrissy pulled the look off with ease as she descended down the red carpet with her husband on her arm.
