They have remarkable endurance and can run at peak speed for 5468 yards (5 km). That is a far greater distance than the cheetah. Due to their elastic recoil, gazelles can also shift directions quickly and easily. Gazelles can therefore avoid predators even though they are slower than cheetahs.
