Cruella d’Avril! Punk princess Miss Lavigne steps out with bizarre two-toned hair
Canadian singer Avril Lavigne must have wanted to debut an exciting new hairdo to go along with her new record, but her black bangs made the blonde look more Cruella de Vil than Joan Jett.
Looking like a poster child for Hot Topic, Avril wore a comfy black skeleton hoodie, leather leggings, and laceless work boots to the airport after finishing her fifth studio album.
‘Just finished my record and now I’m going to take some time for myself before I embark on my next artistic journey,’ the Sk8er Boi singer tweeted to her 4.6 million followers this morning.
…can’t wait for u all to hear the new music. So long Los Angeles!!’
During The Best Damn Thing years, Avril has had more luck wearing colorful extensions and streaks underneath her always blonde hair but today she was rocking quite a hair-raising misstep.
She was greeted at Toronto’s Pearson International airport by her brother and a female friend.
Avril is currently plotting her musical comeback after her introspective last album Goodbye Lullaby flopped.
This month, the pop-punk princess collaborated with Sally Hansen on limited-edition, edgy designs for Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.
Avril’s designs range from pink and sparkly with skull and cross bones to black and white polka dot, metallic, and yellow and black checkers.
‘I have to fight to keep my image really me…. I rejected some gorgeous publicity shots because they just didn’t look like me. I won’t wear skanky clothes that show my booty, my belly or my boobs. I have a great body,’ she once told MTV News.
Originally known for her tomboyish necktie-and-tank-top combinations, Avril eventually took on a more gothic style as she began her second album, Under My Skin.
The self-proclaimed rock star, who has the f-word tattooed on her ribcage, recently moved to Epic Records.
Avril has confirmed that her next record will be more ‘pop and fun.’ She collaborated with the hip-hop production duo The Runners, Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, and former member of rock band Evanescence David Hodges on her new album.
