Did Adele Confirm in a Comedy Club that She Secretly Married Rich Paul?

The singer seemingly confirmed she’s married according to claims from two audience members who shared details with the celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi.

Rumors have long been swirling that Adele and Rich Paul are married — and now accounts on a celebrity gossip site claim she confirmed the news at a comedy show.

While attending her close friend Alan Carr’s Los Angeles comedy show on Saturday, the “Easy on Me” singer, 35, revealed the marriage news in a spontaneous mid-show moment, according to two audience members, who shared the details with the anonymous celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi.

“I was at Alan Carr’s comedy show in LA tonight and Adele was in the audience,” one show-goer wrote. “Alan asked the crowd if anyone got married recently and Adele shouted ‘I did.’ “

The second fan told Deuxmoi, “When [Carr] asked if anyone got married recently [Adele] yelled ‘I did.’ Super cute all around and was super sweet but dipped right before it ended.”

“Adele was sitting right behind me with a friend having the best time. Her security only came in to bring her snacks,” they continued. “She didn’t care if people knew she was there. She was heckling [Carr] — they’re best friends.”

Reps for Adele and Paul did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request to comment.

This isn’t the first time the Grammy winner has seemingly confirmed that she and the sports agent, 41, tied the knot. In September, she referred to Paul as her “husband” while interacting with a fan at one of her Las Vegas residency shows.

“You can’t marry me. I’m straight, my love, and my husband’s here tonight,” Adele told the female audience member in a video posted on TikTok.

When the fan pressed her, asking, “Can you try?” Adele jokingly responded, “No, I don’t want to try. I’m with Rich. You’re crazy, leave me alone.”

Just days later, during another residency performance, the “Hello” singer referred to herself as Paul’s “wife.” While discussing the topic of sports, she confessed that she’s “not the greatest wife” to Paul — whose clients include LeBron James and Zach LaVine — because she was struggling to understand and embrace American football.

Last month, Paul was asked about the rumors that he and Adele had married but he wouldn’t bite. CBS Mornings‘ Gayle King inquired of the performer, “When I see her, should I say ‘Hi, Mrs. Paul?’” prompting Paul to reply with a laugh, “You can say whatever you want.”

He noted that he and Adele are a good match because they both value privacy and keeping their relationship between them. “It’s not for the media. It’s not for paparazzi. It’s for us,” he explained of their romance.

“We’re in a good space. Happy,” he added. “She’s superb.”

The pair went public with their relationship in July 2021, stepping out for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. A source told PEOPLE at the time that they had been dating for “a few months.”

Adele offered a glimpse into her and Paul’s relationship last year, telling Elle that she’s “never been in love like this” before. “I’m obsessed with him,” she added.

In December, she publicly expressed her love for Paul when she paused her Las Vegas show to sing “Happy Birthday” to him as he turned 41. “I love you more than life itself,” she told him, as he looked on from the audience.

In Oct. Paul talked to PEOPLE in an interview ahead of his book Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds, from Roc Lit 101 publishing about growing up in a crime-ridden section of Cleveland, Ohio, in the ’80s and ’90s. In his memoir, Paul describes the deep trauma of having a mother who struggled with drug addiction and sometimes wouldn’t return home for days on end.

“I had built up this wall as a young kid,” he says, “to just have the understanding to move forward and know that she’s not going to be there. Like, Mom is not coming home.” That reality, he adds, “was one of the toughest things for me to relive and write about.”

Other difficult moments include him having to routinely duck gunfire from warring neighbors or run for his young life after winning a high-stakes dice game. “The thing about it is,” he says, “I was never really a kid.”

That sentiment, and the depths of his childhood trauma, are what he says resonated most with his partner of more than two years, Adele. “It was very emotional,” he says of the star’s response to his book. “I think a lot of it probably hit home, so yeah, it was a difficult read [for her].”

Adele has been open in the past about her own childhood struggles. Growing up between Tottenham and Brixton, London, she experienced the devastating loss of her beloved grandfather, who died of cancer when she was just 10. Also her father, Mark Evans, disappeared from her life for years, only to resurface when her career took off in her 20s.

Rich Paul credits his late father, Rich Paul. Sr., for making the positive difference in his life, and teaching him skills to not only survive his rough childhood, but thrive in the successful world he finds himself in today.

“I had a great example of who a man should be and what a man should do,” Paul says of his dad, who ran a local corner store. “I had a front row seat to what work ethic was like, what perseverance was like. I watched my dad play air traffic controller in a community that was a war mixed with a tornado, but also a picnic at times. He was my hero in that regard.”
