“It’s Really F*cking Stupid”: Kristen Stewart Teases Her New Stoner Comedy

Kristen Stewart reveals she is currently writing a screenplay for a “really f*cking stupid stoner girl comedy” with her fiancée Dylan Meyer.

As she continues to reinvent her career, Kristen Stewart reveals she is writing a stoner comedy. The actress is best known for her role as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga, though she has since made many attempts to reinvent herself, including her recent portrayal of Princess Diana in Spencer for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. In addition to acting, Stewart has also dabbled in writing in directing with the 2017 short film, Come Swim.

During a discussion with The Idol’s Rachel Sennott for Interview Magazine, Stewart revealed she is currently writing a screenplay for a “stoner girl comedy” with her fiancée Dylan Meyer, calling it “really f*cking stupid.” Read what Stewart said below:

Me and Dylan are writing a movie. It’s a stoner girl comedy, and it’s really f—ing stupid. I think you’ll like it.

Many years in the making, Stewart is set to make her feature directorial debut with The Chronology of Water. The film is an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s 2011 memoir of the same name, which Stewart is co-writing with Andy Mingo and Imogen Poots set to star. Ridley Scott’s Scott Free production company is producing the passion project, with Stewart intends to shoot with a small crew and a loose shooting schedule along the Oregon coast, where Yuknavitch is from. The memoir recounts her childhood in an abusive household, her experiences as a competitive swimmer, and her struggles with addiction.

After making her directorial debut with the harrowing memoir adaptation, Stewart will seemingly follow it up with the much lighter project she is currently writing and could also direct. The stoner comedy is a smaller but significant genre that includes movies like The Big Lebowski, Pineapple Express, and Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. However, unlike them, Stewart’s stoner comedy will be female-led. She is currently writing the project with her fiancée Dylan Meyer, who is also an actress and writer known for co-writing the feminist coming-of-age movie Moxie. If made, Stewart’s stoner comedy should be an interesting next step in her career.
