Wales has a staggering number of good gigs coming up in 2024

In what is going to be a stellar year for live music in Wales there are some incredible artists coming to perform in 2024. From Taylor Swift to Billy Joel to Avril Lavigne to Girls Aloud, if you are looking for a gig in Wales you are spoilt for choice.

The amazing lineup of artists will be performing in venues around Wales, including in Cardiff and Swansea, and some still have tickets on sale so make sure you don’t miss out. There will also be international artists, some such as Billy Joel who will be performing in Cardiff for the first time. Here are all the music acts coming to Wales in 2024 that you definitely shouldn’t miss.

Tom Jones

Welsh music legend Sir Tom Jones is returning home and performing in Wales in 2024. The music star from Treforest will be 84 when he performs at the first-ever Chepstow Summer Sessions at Chepstow Racecourse. The concert will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 and he will be supported by singer Gabrielle. Taylor Swift

International pop sensation Taylor Swift is coming to Cardiff to the delight of many, as one of the biggest acts to visit Wales in 2024. If you managed to successfully secure your tickets the big gig takes place on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Principality Stadium. If you are not going to the concert be prepared for Cardiff to be packed with thousands of fans as the Swifties descend. Pink

Another huge act coming to Cardiff in 2024 is Pink and this is not her first time in Cardiff. She will be bringing her Summer Carnival tour to the Principality Stadium on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. You can find tickets here.

Bruce Springsteen

It is shaping up to be a great year for the Principality Stadium as Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band are returning to the brilliant venue. They last performed there in 2013 and will be taking to the stage on Sunday, May 5, 2024. You can find tickets here.

Billy Joel

International superstar Billy Joel is giving Cardiff a real treat as his only European tour date of 2024 will take place in Cardiff. He will also be delighting crowds at the Principality Stadium and his gig takes place on Friday, August 9, 2024. You can find tickets here.

Foo Fighters

World-famous rock band Foo Fighters will also be heading to the Principality Stadium and they will take to the stage on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Tickets also sold out for this gig in minutes as the popular band come to Wales and there may be resale tickets available from Ticketmaster, here.

Wet Wet Wet

Scottish soft rock band Wet Wet Wet is coming to Cardiff in 2024 and performing at Utilita Arena Cardiff on Sunday, January 21, 2024. You can find tickets here.

Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer

1990s alt-rock legends Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer will perform at Cardiff Castle in the summer of 2024. The US bands will call at the Welsh venue as part of their major summer tour of the UK and Ireland which will also see them play the O2 in London. Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer will visit Cardiff Castle on Friday, June 14, 2024. Tickets are already on sale and you can buy them from Ticketmaster and Depot Live website. Fronted by the one-off Billy Corgan, Chicago band The Smashing Pumpkins first emerged in 1988 and have since sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two Grammy Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award.

Happy Mondays

Rock band Happy Mondays, best known for their members Shaun Ryder and Mark ‘Bez’ Berry, are coming to Cardiff in 2024. They will perform at the Utilita Arena on Saturday, March 23, 2024. You can buy tickets here.

Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher is returning to Cardiff for a gig to celebrate the seminal Oasis debut album Definitely Maybe’s 30th anniversary. The younger of the Gallagher brothers, he has announced a UK and Ireland tour when he will sing the album in full and classic B-sides from the band’s early days, and one of the dates sees Liam come to Cardiff. He’ll play the Utilita Arena on Monday, June 3, 2024 which is the second date of the tour. You can find tickets here.

Noel Gallagher

Liam is not the only Gallagher brother coming to Wales in 2024. Noel Gallagher is coming too and he is returning to Cardiff Castle in 2024 for a summer gig. Noel and his band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, will return to Cardiff Castle on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Noel played an unforgettable sold-out show at Cardiff Castle in 2019. His set will consist of a wide selection of Oasis classics as well as featuring a cross-section of material from the past dozen years of his highly successful career as a solo artist. Anne – Marie

An annual favourite event at Cardiff Castle, Depot in the Castle is a day-long festival that often features a very impressive line-up. It has been announced that Anne-Marie will be headlining Depot in the Castle. Anne-Marie, who is behind hits like 2002, Friends, and Psycho, will be performing to crowds at Cardiff Castle as the festival returns for its seventh year. Depot in the Castle will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Tickets for Depot in the Castle are already on sale and you can buy them from Ticketmaster and Depot Live website.

Simple Minds

Scottish rock band Simple Minds has announced the UK and Ireland leg of their Global Tour 2024 – their biggest tour since 1985. The group, which formed in 1977, is coming to Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Simple Minds have played to hundreds of thousands of people around the globe, including their largest US tour to date in 2018. Demand to see the band perform well-known hits including Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, and Someone Somewhere in Summertime, has grown year on year. You can find tickets here.

Rick Astley

His most famous song has kept him on radios and music channels for almost the past 40 years, now 1980s pop idol Rick Astley is performing at Cardiff Castle in summer 2024. Rick Astley will headline the historic venue on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He will be joined by special guests Lightning Seeds. You can buy your tickets at Ticketmaster.

Niall Horan

One Direction fans get ready as one of its stars, who since the band’s hiatus in 2016 has gone on to have a stellar solo career, is coming to Cardiff in 2024 with his tour The Show Live On Tour. Niall Horan, who found fame in the X Factor-made boy band, will be bringing his world tour to the Utilita Arena Cardiff on Monday, March 4, 2024. Tickets are available to purchase on Ticketmaster.

Paloma Faith

Paloma Faith is set to perform in Wales not once, not twice but three times in 2024. Fans will be able to watch the songstress perform at the Cardiff Utilita Arena on Friday, April 19, 2024,Swansea Arena on Saturday, May 18, 2024 and the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod on Friday, June 21, 2024. Girls Aloud

90s babies all across Wales rejoiced when Girls Aloud announced they were going on a reunion tour that included a Welsh date. The popular band will be performing at the Utilita Arena on Monday, May 27, 2024 and you can find tickets here.

UB40

Reggae and pop band UB40 are coming to Cardiff in 2024. They will play at the Utilita Arena on Thursday, November 7, 2024 and you can find your tickets here.

Avril Lavigne

Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne is coming to Cardiff Castle, bringing some of her biggest hits. The Sk8er Boi singer, who, aged just 17, became the youngest female solo artist to reach number one in the UK album charts, will headline in the capital, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. At her Cardiff show, she will be supported by Montreal rock band Simple Plan. General tickets went on sale on Friday, December 1 and you can buy them at the Depot Live website and Ticketmaster. Since launching her debut album Let Go in 2002 – featuring iconic hit Complicated – the Canadian singer-songwriter has sold 40 million albums worldwide and got eight Grammy Award nominations under her belt.

Jason Derulo

Echo and the Bunnymen

James Arthur

Crowded House

Australasian rock giants Crowded House are taking to the stage at Cardiff Castle. The five-piece rock band famed for such legendary hits Don’t Dream It’s Over and Weather With You will play Cardiff Castle on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Tickets are already on sale and you can buy them from Ticketmaster and the Depot Live website. The Cardiff Castle date, part of Depot Live, is one of only a handful of shows Crowded House is performing in the UK next summer including outdoor dates at The Piece Hall, Halifax, and Lincoln Castle.

Manic Street Preachers and Suede

Manic Street Preachers and Suede are playing not one but two gigs at Cardiff Castle in summer 2024. They will be performing at Cardiff Castle on Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6, 2024. Nick Saunders from DEPOT Live said: “As we saw with Tom Jones over the summer, the Welsh love to back their own – and with Suede as laudable co-headliners alongside Manic Street Preachers, it’s really no surprise the demand has been so high. JLS

Popular boyband JLS is returning to Cardiff, having already performed in the Welsh capital in 2023, to take to the stage at Cardiff Castle. They will be performing on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Having shot to success after appearing on The X Factor JLS have some big hits such as One Shot, Beat Again and She Makes Me Wanna. New Order

The 1980s and 1990s electronic music pioneers and World in Motion songwriters New Order are back in Wales for the Bay Series of shows. Known for their groundbreaking electronic music and the biggest-selling 12-inch of all time, Blue Monday, New Order will join The Bay Series of gigs down at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Becky Hill

Singer Becky Hill is finally going on her own headline tour and she’s bringing the show to Wales in 2024. The singer/songwriter will embark on her UK tour in the autumn of next year in support of her highly anticipated upcoming second album.
