Surprised by the strange way animals hunt
The animal world is quite harsh and sometimes beautiful creatures are professional hunters.
Golden eagles have a strange way of hunting: they will grab their prey and drop it off a cliff. The golden eagle is native to Mexico with a wingspan of up to 2 meters and is the largest bird of prey in North America. This bird eats everything from insects to small livestock. It can even carry an animal weighing up to 115kg.
The ferret is a cute-looking creature, but its way of hunting is not like that. They are carnivores, able to eat anything from insects, birds, mice to small mammals like rabbits. The ermine is not the largest or most powerful predator, so it must use other skills. When it discovers a group of rabbits, it will begin to perform a dance in front of them, spinning and jumping at breakneck speed. This ability helps it hypnotize the enemy and get closer to the target. When the time is right, it will attack and grab the nearest rabbit for its dinner.
The brilliant-looking mantis shrimps are actually one of the strongest animals compared to animals of the same size. This about 10cm long crustacean can defeat its prey by literally launching punches with attack speed as fast as a bullet, easily breaking seashells or crab shells.
Electric eels often hide in the dark and use their unique electric discharge ability to paralyze their prey.
Killer whales are one of the few animals that hunt sharks. They hunt by bringing sharks to the surface and then delivering a slap from above that paralyzes the sharks and becomes their meal.
While most ocean creatures can only see blue light, arowana fish can see red light. This gives them the ability to see in the dark when other sea creatures cannot see. That makes it easier for them to hunt.
Trapdoor spiders often dig a hole to crawl inside and ambush their prey. They can even camouflage themselves by covering themselves with leaves. When the innocent insect approaches, it will pull its prey inside.
Frogfish do not swim well and often live near the bottom of the ocean, but they are very professional hunters. They use a part of their body to pretend to be bait, then when the prey approaches, they will rush forward and swallow the prey with their large mouth.
Fireflies are one of the most beautiful creatures in nature with the ability to glow. However, this is also the way it hunts. Fireflies create sticky traps and attract prey with their light.
The humpback whale is an intelligent animal and this is reflected in the way it hunts. Humpback whales will make noise near a school of fish to make them panic and swim to the surface. Here, other whales will blow large bubbles, causing even more chaos among the fish. At that time, the whale will open its mouth and swallow them. A whale can eat about 1 ton of fish/day this way.
