What does the image of a burning chair in Adele’s new MV mean?

The artistic intentions placed in Adele’s MV all have many meanings.

In the early morning of January 13 (Vietnam time), Adele  announced her new product, the MV for the song Oh My God.  This is a song with a catchy R&B and dance sound, the 5th song in the album 30 – written by her after breaking up with her husband – Simon Konecki.

This is a song performed with the collaboration of “English nightingale” and Greg Kurstin. The dramatic video was directed by Sam Brown – also the director of the   singer’s 2010  MV Rolling in the Deep .

The visual part of the music product is built with two main colors black and white. Sam Brown opens with the highlight of an apple placed on a chair. After that, the camera quickly switched to the image of Adele calmly and comfortably singing the opening song while surrounded by other empty chairs.

The apple reminds many viewers of the story of Snow White.

Next, a series of chaotic scenes are continuously created with dancers, chaos and Adele’s cleavage. The female singer also quickly changed her outfit with many artistic intentions.

In this MV, there are also many images delicately placed by Adele, evoking metaphorical images such as: pythons, horses, dancers jumping into the air and a chair on fire. All of them bring compatibility with the theme of  Oh My God

There have been speculations about the image of this burning chair, especially since Adele’s previous music products such as  Hometown Glory , Rolling In The Deep and Easy On Me also appeared different chairs.

Pinkfork newspaper said that the image of the burning chair means that Adele has completely come out of the pain of love and is ready to receive new experiences.

Many viewers also think that this is Adele’s message about how she has become stronger, not just a shy and timid woman like in the early stages of her career.

A lyric from her song  My Same  seems quite appropriate for this image: “I like to sit on chairs and you prefer the floor”. sit on the floor).

After that, the video ends with the female singer gently biting the apple that appeared at the beginning. Oh My God ‘s lyrics also capture her desire to put herself first, even if it means “tilting on the edge between heaven and hell”.

Adele born in 1988 is a famous British singer. She has won 15 Grammy awards and sold more than 120 million records. Adele’s latest album – 30 – has continuously broken sales records, and also topped music charts for many consecutive weeks.
